Dear List,

I request for guidance from the knowledgeable friends in the group.

My question is can one find the Kula Devatha from the horoscope,if so

what is the recommended procedure. This arose out of a recent query to

me.

Taking my example.I was born on Sri Narasimham Jayanthi day,my

birthday being May 11th 2006 as per tithi. My birth details as per

calendar is 20 April 1942,7-15 am .Kakinada.I am somehow attached to

Sri Satyanarayan Murty. My first name was in fact Satyanarayana

Murty, changed at admission to school to Satish in 1946.

I visit annually quite regularly Annavaram where Sri Satyanarayana

Murty Temple is located,very " prassidhi " temple.Besides I make an

annual visit to Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala. Both these visits

are since last 35 years +.

There is a general practice in local society in Mumbai to ask for

either Kula Devatha or Ishta Devatha's name. I am unable to answer

correctly.

Whilst answering would it be presumptious to say,for all the

members of the same family the devatha remains the same.

This is my humble request seeking enlightenment.

Regards,

Satish

Dear R Satish, Namaskar

The Kula Devata or family deity is found from the second house in Vimsamsa

(d20).

Best wishes,

Dear Sri Visti Larsen,

Thank you for your guidance. My birth details as per calendar is

29 -4-1942 ,7-15 a.m. Kakinada. and not 20 April 1942.My apologies.

As advised I drew up the D-1,D-9,D-20 charts which is in Tabular

form for convenience. The D-20 chart was made thru a ready reckoner

of Sri Mallikarjuna Rao's book on Divisional Charts.

Planets/Asc. D-1 D-9 D-20.

Lagna Vrishabha 10-31 Mesha Mithuna

Sun Mesha 15-04 Simha Kumbha

Moon Kanya 19-50 Mithuna Simha

Mars Mithuna 08-40 Dhanur Makara

Mercury Mesha 25-04 Vrischika Simha

Jupiter Vrishabha 27-50 Kanya Mithuna

Venus Kumbha 29-27 Mithuna Karka

Saturn Vrishabha 05-42 Kumbha Meena

Rahu Simha 18-50 Kanya Dhanur

Ketu Kumbha 18-50 Meena Dhanur.

From your guidance with Mithuna as D-20 Lagna, whare Jupiter is

deposited also,Venus is placed in 2nd house.Venus is aspected by

Mars in Makara(7th house).

Does this mean because 2nd house refers to family,we chose this

house.Further as Venus is placed in 2nd aspected by Mars.we have to

consider both the dieties represented by Venus,Mars..

In you well written articles on Navamsa, you have mentioned

about Atmakaraka planet in Navamsa, and 9th,12th houses

occupancy,lordship, for Ishta devata....

Your kind guidance will help me undertand this new aspect

better. Many thanks.

Regards,

Satish
