Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Namaste Sarbani ji and others, It is indeed very interesting what you say and Anand shares. Sarbani ji, you are absolutely correct in how we ended up with hawkeye gems. I am thinking, it could well have been en eagle also, I do not know the difference between the appearance of the two. The thought of Hawk came to my mind when I saw the bird and therefore that's what I called it. The question is what could Sun or garuda signify in the present moment in time for me? Sun is 3rd lord in lagna for me, currently in Dhanus the 7th house. It is also the lord of AL. I am about to start my sani antar in jupiter mahadasa and sani is placed in the sign of sun....I am thinking the bird is indicative of a New Time to Come, positive or negative I know little to decipher... Anand, its indeed very interesting that you would see the pic too just as soon you attend to my query, we are linked by parampara, what could this mean? Are all Bhavas equal in size i.e. 30 degrees each or is there any other rule to be followed? And most important of all .....how do we strengthen such planets who are in Rasi Sandhi and lords of important houses like Kendras/Trikonas/ Lagna ? Regards Ekalavya - Sarajit Poddar sohamsa Friday, January 04, 2008 6:17 AM Re: Difference between Rashi Sandhi and Bhava Sandhi....Their effects || Jaya Jagannath || Dear Ekalavya, Planets give results due to their placement in a Rasi and Bhava. When the planets are placed in the Rasi Sandhi, the planet becomes extremely weak to support the houses it lords and hence the houses ruled by this planet becomes weak and suffers. However when a planet is placed in a Bhava sandhi, the planet's affect of placement in that bhava is almost nill. For example, we all know that Sun's placement in the Lagna Bhava makes the person Bald and have defective eye sight. However, if Sun is placed quite far from the degree of the Lagna, near the sandhi (around 15deg away each side of lagan degree), these effects will not be prominent. I guess looking atthe Navamsa or D10 Charts would indicate who will be Head Coach and who theAssistant CoachSo being a coaching position, one would look at 10H. Charts of Inteviews 2and 4 have LL Ju in own 10H, so this surely must indicate the successfulcandidates.I would greatly appreciate your inputs so that Ican learn from this case studyBest WishesBipinMessages in this topic (1)__________6a. Re: Simple question about exactly what Mars symbolizes Posted by: "tijanadamjanovic" tijanadamjanovic tijanadamjanovic Fri Jan 4, 2008 4:32 pm ((PST))om gurave namahDear Sundeep,Definition of logic in Western philosophy will not give you an answer. There isn`t anything similar to general opinion in Western philosophyon weather is logic an instrument of thinking or the aim of thinkingby itself, that is, a separate branch of innumerable branches ofphilosophy. There is a kind of irony consisted in the word philosophythat pictures its state in West. As philosophy it indicates passionatelove for the truth, but as philozophy, as prounounced in English, itdenotes desire for darkness (as word zofos in old Greek meansdarkness). That`s why I think you should stick to sanskrit and to whatnyaya is.Gordon had a point when he said that Mars is all about winning. Everygraha is motivated by a certain desire. Mars has desire to win. Whenapplied to thinking, Mars represents tactic or strategy of thinkingwith the aim of making own point the only valid one. But that doesn`tmean the truth (for that he needs Jupiter). To prove this you can takeany simple syllogism which form the basis of logic, the most simpleand common one will be enough to illustrate this: Dog has four legs, cat has four legs=dog is cat. Mars will not be concerned about thetruthfulness of the statement if it will serve the cause. When makingsomeone naiyaayika, Mars employs person`s intelligence inargumentations and directs it with his desire to win.I hope this helps.Warm regards,Tijanasohamsa , "vedicastrostudent"<vedicastrostudent wrote:>> Dear Nirvanika,> Thank you for your very interesting reply. Re: Simple question about exactly what Mars symbolizes Posted by: "vedicastrostudent" vedicastrostudent vedicastrostudent Fri Jan 4, 2008 10:11 pm ((PST))Dear Tijana,Thank you for your reply. Precisely my point - "the definition of the word "logic" will not give me an answer". So what should we do? Force the English word "logic" to mean what "Kujain Naiyaayika" meant? Or accept that "logic" is not the right word to describe the idea hinted at in the shloka? That is one of my points. When Sanjayji translated that shloka to "Mars in 1/5 gives a logician", then it is an incomplete translation at best (no offence meant to Sanjayji), especially for those who dont know the Sanskrit context (like me). From what you and Gordon are insisting a more accurate statement would be "Mars in 1/5 gives a self-serving and rash logician". Self serving because his goal is to win (as both Gordon and you say). Rash because he may draw conclusions too early (as your example shows). And what would he do if logic didnt go in his favor? Would he become deceitful too, not revealing the part of logic that didnt go in his favor because winning is prime for him? This is not really a logician at all(!), rather an insult to them, because simply by putting all this together, the most accurate definition seems to be "Mars in 1/5 gives a self-serving, rash and potentially deceitful logician" :-) Am I on the right track here, please? So, is Mars all bad? I frequently see reference to Jupiter-Mars yogas producing some very great scholars.. There must be some good side to it as well? What is that, if at all? I tried to view it (the good side) as decisiveness and judgment making capability but Gordon didnt seem to agree, I didnt quite understand why.Thank you,Sundeepsohamsa , "tijanadamjanovic" <tijanadamjanovic wrote:>> om gurave namah> Dear Sundeep,> > Definition of logic in Western philosophy will not give you an answer.> There isn`t anything similar to general opinion in Western philosophy> on weather is logic an instrument of thinking or the aim of thinking> by itself, that is, a separate branch of innumerable branches of> philosophy. Re: Simple question about exactly what Mars symbolizes Posted by: "nalini swamy" nalini2818 nalini2818 Fri Jan 4, 2008 10:45 pm ((PST))Hare Rama KrsnaHraum Namah AdityayDear Sundeep ji, Tijana ji and all,Namaskar. If I may intrude, Mangala, I would surmise indicate stubborn nature, single mindedness and perseverence. Say in an argument, persisting in his/her 'logic' - view-point. Not giving up even if futile, relentlessly pursuing to stay on top. I would not say deceitful, that is not the portfolio allotted to Mangala. The construct of the argument- logic would be to win over the opponent , win at any cost but not through illegal means but forcefully. Maybe even subjugating or overpowering, when the other side 'recognises' the futility of the argument and would give up rather than try to persist. This is in itself probably impulsive, not very rational and thought out. The Guru Mangala yoga would however 'temper' the argument with vignana and viveka and give it the depth. What I have tried to say might be what others have said more successfully!!!!RegardsNalinivedicastrostudent <vedicastrostudentsohamsa Sent: Saturday, 5 January, 2008 7:11:29 PM Re: Simple question about exactly what Mars symbolizesDear Tijana,Thank you for your reply. The short procedure taught earlier was still too complicated for many people and contains several Sanskrita mantras, some from Veda. The newer super-short procedure will allow more people to take advatantage of homam. Guest guest
Om Krishna Guru OmDear Gaurav, Sarajit, Sarbani & OthersThere are two 2 indicators on the facts mentioned, namely Hawk & East direction.. There was a hawk-like bird, and in discussions Garuda was mentioned and from the East Direction ruled by the Sun The link between this is, Garuda was brother of Aruna the charioteer of Surya. Garuda is also known to block out the Sun, so an inference to this nimitta could be that some protection is being offered to the native or occupants of the dwelling. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Gaurav, Namaste Birds in general are presided over by the Sun. But, the Crow is Rahu and birds of prey would be akin to Rahu, I would think. There are many types of Hawks, but they main are carnivoires and some eat rodents (Shiva’s vahana), some eat birds (Sun). As far as nimittas go, a threatening type of reptile, snake, birds of prey are to the left side of you as you’re going to work, indicates ills/bad news etc while it is the contrary if the hawk was to your right, then ignore the remedial suggestions below. The Sun is currently in a dual sign aspecting your ascendant, 4th, 7th and the 10th. In the kalachakra scheme of things, the devata is always opposite the animal/bird indicated (Sun rules the East direction and Garuda is the Vahana). Since we have ascertained that the presiding planet for birds in general is the Sun, the opposite of this is Venus and the Bull is the animal and Narayana is the presiding Deity. The signs involved are Scorpio (Snake)/Libra (Bull). Since you saw a hawk and not a snake, we can surmise that Libra/5th house is the house under consideration. The Bull/Nandi is Lord Shiva’s vahana and Lord Shiva has the power to overpower the forces there be. Note that the Lord of the day is Friday and is presided by Venus. The pacification is in the direction that is 12th from it, which is to feed a (stray) dog on a Wednesday between 10am-12 noon and dakshina is a set of white silk dhoti to your Guru. The tattva is Vayu – heck, get an airline ticket for your Guru ) - anyone wants to volunteer another suggestion as the karaka for Venus?? (Guru - The one who gave you the Gayatri mantra in NY). Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Anand, Namaste You have not indicated if the sound is from the left or the right side. By the way, I learnt several years ago from someone including Sarajit that godha is the word for a monitor lizard. Since they eat up insects including mosquitoes, you might have to identify the Signs – Pisces to a certain extent especially Scorpio, the Rishi connected with this reptile and also the nakshatra connected with this rishi – happy searching from the Mahabharata. Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Dear Gaurav, You mentioned the parampara linkage as Anand and you shared the strange hawk experience. Both of you share the same jyotish guru as well. We believe that Achyutananda is the reincarnation of Garuda, thereby making this grand mythological bird-deity a poignant symbol of the parampara. We try to draw a parallel with the eagle., because of the similarity of thek, eyes, head, wings etc. The whole demeanour is that of an eagle. Birds of prey come in a varaiety of species: eagles, hawks, falcons, shikras. Each have sub-species. Check the attached pictures. Nimittas on the right are considered auspicious. Even negative objects including dead bodies on the right, implies that the negative has or is becoming favourable or that it has tided over. Anand’s experiences with the picture of the hawk and then his sighting a day after must also indicate something?? He has informed us that the sound of the lizards’ from his right side. What does this mean? In the recent weeks, he’s been the intermediary between my Guru and I for yagnas etc., and also some information has been passed down to him from my Guru. Birds of prey come in a varaiety of species: eagles, hawks, falcons, shikras. Each have sub-species. Check the attached pictures. Nimittas on the right are considered auspicious. He was just sitting there doing nothing but looking inside at me. At that point after initial eye contact, I just picked up my coat and walked away. To people in India or elsewhere this might be a common occurrence, but to someone living in the new york city, its a rarity to see a bird in your apartment let alone a hawk. It was my first in the 11 years I have been here. He was light creme from the top to the neck and brown thereafter in the body. I wonder what it might signify, if anything. Guest guest
Dear all, Talking of nimmatas involving birds, I had a very peculiar experience on my recent trip to India. I was headed to Shani Shingnapur, a place near Pune. Shani Shingnapur is a very unique place as it has got swayambhu Shani Idol. My parents and my two younger brothers were also along with me. I was in a very happy mood as it was perhaps for the first time we were travelling all along. Furthermore, I had this burning desire for the last 10 years or so to visit Shani Shingnapur, but it never materialised for some reason or the other. We were travelling in Toyota that was driven by a driver. I was travelling on the rear most seat. As we were some 45 minutes into our drive, I saw a flock of crows that was feasting on a roadside carcass. As our car barelled through the road, the flock suddenly scattered all around. One of the crows dashed against the right side of the car's hood. The car was around 90 kms per hour. I heard a sickening thud of the crow crashing against the car. I just froze there, thinking that the crow was sure to have died. All through our journey, I was very restless. I was headed to Shani Shingnapur and the car in which I was travelling kills a crow--a bird which is the vahan of Lord Shani. Since that day, this incident is weighing heavy on my mind. I keep on thinking about it day in and day out. Though I did my pooja in Shani Shingnapur, I am still not at peace. From Shani Shingnapur we went to Shirdi. The whole trip was uneventful apart from this incident. I really do not know what to make out of it. I have Shani in 11th house with Taurus ascendant. However, this Shani though very highly beneficial on face of it, gives results of a debilitated plant, perhaps on account of its weakness from degrees standpoint. Lord Shani is the significator of my career as it is the ninth and tenth lord in the 11th house. I do all possible efforts to keep it propitiated. I light Til lamp before Lord Shani every Saturday at the local Navgrah temple. I am really worried. If elders could shed some light on this, it would be great. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Rafal, Namaste The colour black is represented by Shani, Rahu and Ketu according to Padma Purana – all their images and powders are made from burnt rice and is decorated around the base of the yagna kunda or a yantra representing that planet is drawn with the same. Animals and birds are given their spiritual connotation in relation to the vahana of that deity that presides over the directions. You will note that every 5th from its direction is its enemy, hence for the Crow-Rahu-Kalabhairava, we look the the 5th from it only if birth takes place on a Wednesday between 10:30-12noon. Mercury presides over prithvi tattwa, hence a piece of and is to be offered as a donation and the 12th from it, which is actually the 4th from the original position is also to be presented as dakshina. Since it Jupiter presides over this direction, the dakshina is to be offered to a Guru and Hari (Lion) is the cat I should embrace as a perpetual feature in my life. I admit that though I do not have a lion as a pet, I do keep a wild African cat and he is known as our “four-legged” son. Hope this satisfy your query. The pacification is in the direction that is 12th from it, which is to feed a (stray) dog on a Wednesday between 10am-12 noon and dakshina is a set of white silk dhoti to your Guru. This morning around just before the clock hits 9.30am, as I was about to leave my apartment for work, on the eastern tip of my apartment terrace/balcony ( I live on the 26th top floor of an apartment building with my flat being in the north-eastern block of the building compound, and the balcony being in the eastern direction) , I saw what appeared to be a HAWK looking directly at me eye to eye. I understand that Hawks are generally associated with kurara planets, and could indicate or foretell a negative event to come. anyway's, would appreciate if someone would share their understanding. Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya Dear Manoj, Namaste You should not be worried at all. Sani generates dharma-karma yoga as well being the lord of 9th and 10th house, which is the highest of yogas. Please donate what ever you can to poor and take life ahead. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Rafal, Namaste I take it that the allegory would be this: The right side is represented by the Sun that purifies everything with its rays. As for the left side that is represented by the Moon, omens seen during the two pakshas maybe modified. Hence, a bad omen seen from your left during shukla paksha would not be as foreboding as the one seen during krishna paksha. Garuda Purana has a chapter on snake bites. Do have a read. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Rafal, Namaste I am not aware of the statement made nor am I aware of the lesson given. Please point me to it. But I thought I’d give the Brihat Samhita a revisit and here it is: ôIsÁ}a> ÉasÉ;kkipïIk[RixÅ r>, izioïIk{QipPpIkééZyenaí di][a>. strésaïjïäù bhäsabhañakakapiçrékarëadhikkaraù| çikhiçrékaëöhapippékaruruçyenäçca dakñiëäù|| ..b & ht! s<ihta.86,68. ||båhat saàhitä||86|68|| the chapter on omens through birds and beasts The last statement qualifies if you are facing east and the south is to your right on the sighting of the hawk, giving auspicious results. In the earlier verse 64 gives the personalities that preside over the 8 directions though precision is given to the 32 spokes/divisions, the time of sighting, nature, cries, habitat, etc. Tale of the snake: A later statement says that if a snake crosses from left to right, its good. I have mental mark on this statement as I do live in a snake filled country. I once had a poisonous that travelled with us on a two and half hour south bound journey made his way from left to right on the windscreen and settled by the right side mirror of the car and wriggled off just before we entered our weekend home. In retrospect, we should have realised much earlier that our housekeeper had turned our home into the “California Guest House” (so named by him) but we were in denial because of his efficiency and that particular weekend, he was found out because of his disgruntled wife. Hope this will suffice. Love,  Swee     <yobrevol (AT) aol (DOT) com> <yobrevol <yobrevol@ aol.com> <yobrevol  <@gro ups.com> <>  Fri, 04 Jan 2008 16:37:46 -0500 (EST)  <sohamsa@ .com> <sohamsa > <sohamsa> <sohamsa > , <vedic astrology> <vedic- astrology> <vedic astrology > , <@gro ups.com> <>  [Jaya Jagannatha] Strange Nimitta       Hare Rama Krishna  Namaste Gurujans et al,  A very interesting thing happened today to me, and I kept thinking about it before deciding to post it on lists. I understand that Hawks are generally associated with kurara planets, and could indicate or foretell a negative event to come.   anyway's, would appreciate if someone would share their understanding.  Namaste Gaurav     Start the year off right.  Easy ways to stay in shape <http://body. aol.com/fitness/ winter-exercise? Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Bivash, Namaste I need more information – the direction you are travelling towards and the time of the sighting. We can then try a deeper understanding of the nimitta. Guest guest
Om Brihaspataye Namah Dear Guruvi, Hare Krishna The general direction was towards Durban, which is South, since I live in the north coast. The time was around 7am this morning. Just before seven would be more precise. And it is also more than a coincidence that you mention snakes, because at my friends office today, at around 10:15am, there was a documentary about snakes- more of a spiritual documentary. Showing Naag Panchami festival in India with beatiful snakes. Also showing Buddhists and some Oriental countries worshipping snakes. The television was to my right. I love snakes by the way. One of the most beautiful and lovely creatures on earth. And i firmly dont to the belief that they are evil etc. However locusts... YUK!!! If there is one thing i am most afraid of in this life, worse than anything... is locusts!!! They terrify me to bits! Especially flying ones... it gives me the creeps just thinking about them!!! Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Namaste Swee ji and guru bhai's, I could not help but write this. I am amazed and feel extremely blessed to have swee ji as the guiding light in my life, our lives. Her breadth of knowledge is only surpassed by her depth of knowledge along side. thank you swee ji; Gaurav In a message dated 1/9/2008 9:02:44 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, sweechan writes: Jaya JagannathaDear Bivash,Hare KrishnaHawk hovering indicates his sighting for his food (as long as he is not eating) - gives good results/outcome. With the sighting In the South Westerly direction, expect good news in 3 days but if directly to your extreme right which is the SW, then results will be felt in 5 days. For fun, I drew up a chart for Stanger for 6:57 and the Sun is in the 5th, indicating that the good news might have something to do with your job, something you’ve had prior knowledge of and finally the promise will be kept. But you may not be too happy, because you might have to shift to another part of town and possibly closer to water and where fruit/mango tree flourishes. So the focus is a major shift amidst stiff competition. If the sighting is SW, then news will come from a female. If in the West, from a man. If the hawk was hovering above a tree, then the person drives a big car.As for your phobia, look at the 3rd from AL in your shashtyamsa.Love,Swee Bivash Ramroop <bivaash108Wed, 09 Jan 2008 09:16:09 +0000[Jaya Jagannatha] Re: Strange Nimitta Om Brihaspataye NamahDear Guruvi,Hare KrishnaThe general direction was towards Durban, which is South, since I live in the north coast.
