Guest guest
Om Om Om Om Om Hare Rama Krishna Pranaam Sanjay, Sarat has sent an excellent mail to the list answering various questions of a student. He wrote the following: > The Sun represents day and Moon, the night. The basic > division of the horoscope is done into two halves on > the axis Leo to Capricorn - being the day half or the > Sun's half and is called Dakshinayan or the Southern > half, and from Aquarius to Cancer - being the night > half or the Moon's half and is called the Uttarayan > or the Northern half. Sarat is perfectly correct. Kalyana Verma also wrote in Saravali that the half from Le to Cp is the day half owned by Sun and the half from Aq to Cn is the night half owned by Moon. However, when Parasara defined the natures of rasis, he defined Ar, Ta, Ge, Cn, Sg and Cp as the night signs and Le, Vi, Li, Sc, Aq and Pi as the day signs. How do we reconcile with this apparent discrepancy between Kalyana Verma and Parasara (with regard to the signs owned by Jupiter and Saturn)? Are they both correct or is only Parasara correct? Kalyana Verma's version is continuous. What is the reason for this discontinuity in Parasara's version? You said something long back and I tried to think about it further, but I drew a blank. Also, I wanted to ask this for a long time: The 11th, 9th and 7th are badhaka sthanas from movable, fixed and dual rasis controlled by Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Is there any logic behind these numbers? You explained the basis behind several basics that I had taken for granted as the fundamental axioms! I wonder if you have an explanation for badhaka sthanas also. Your sishya, Narasimha
