Guest guest
Dear Hari Sauri Prabhu, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I will now give some quotes from Brhad Parasara Hora Sastra in regard to the different lagna's for SP chart: Dhanus lagna BPHS Ch. 10.2 Should one among Mercury, Jupiter and Venus be in an angle from Ascendant, all evils will be destroyed as the Sun eliminates darkness. (this is not the case with Makara lagna) Ch. 10.9 If malefics are surrounded by benefics while angles or trines are themselves benefic-occupied, evils disappear soon. Not only this, evils will not follow from the houses concerned. (I will comment on this at the end) Ch 20.1 one will be fortunate if 9th lord is in 9th with strength Ch. 20.28 Mercury in deep exaltation as the 9th lord is in the 9th itself, abundant fortunes will be earned after age 36. (Srila Prabhupada met his Guru Maharaja at the age of 36 and heard he would be initiated soon) (same counts for Makara lagna also) Ch 24.9 Ascendant lord in the 9th: fortunate, dear to people, will be a devotee of Shri Vishnu, be skilful, eloquent in speech, endowed with wife, sons and wealth. Ch. 24.23 2nd lord in 11th: all kinds of wealth, ever diligent, honourable, famous Ch 24.27 (in case of Rahu) 3rd lord in 3rd: endowed with happiness through co-born, will have wealth and sons, be cheerful and extremely happy. Ch 24.35 (in case of Saturn) 3rd lord in 11th: always gain in trading, be intelligent although not literate, be adventurous and will serve others. Ch. 24.45 4th lord in 9th: dear to one and all, be devoted to God, virtuous, honourable, endowed with every kind of happiness Ch 24.54 5th lord in 6th: sons will be equal to his enemies, or will lose them, or will acquire an adopted or purchased son Ch 24.70 6th lord in 10th: well known among his men, not respectfully disposed towards his father, will be happy in foreign countries, will be gifted speaker (Srila Prabhupada refused his diploma and upset his father in this way) Ch 24.82 7th lord in 10th: will beget a disobedient wife, will be religious and endowed with wealth, sons, etc... Ch 24.90 8th lord in 6th (causing vipareet raj yoga): win over his enemies, be afflicted by diseases and during childhood will incur danger through snakes (poison, fire) and water. (Srila Prabhupada was afflicted by typhoid and dysenterie in childhood, and had a scar on his leg from a fire) Ch 24.105 9th lord in 9th: endowed with abundant fortunes, virtues and beauty, and will enjoy happiness from co-born. Ch 24.118 10th lord in 10th: skilful in all jobs, valorous, truthful and devoted to elders Ch 24.130 11th lord in 10th: honoured by the king, be virtuous, attached to his religion, intelligent, truthful, will subdue his senses Ch 24.141 12th lord in 9th (in case of Ketu): will dishonour his elders, inimical even to his friends, and be always intent on achieving his own ends (Srila Prabhupada, seeing the enmity between Gaudiya Math members, went his own way to achieve his ends) Ch 36.5-6: Amal Yoga: if there be exclusively a benefic in the 10th from Ascendant or Moon, Amal Yoga exists. Amal Yoga will CONFER FAME LASTING TILL THE MOON AND STARS EXIST and will make the native honoured by the king, enjoy abundant pleasures, charitable, fond of relatives, helpful to others, pious and virtuous. Ch 36.7-8: Parvat Yog: benefics in kendras will produce Parvat Yoga, as the 7th and 8th are vacant or are occupied by only benefics. One born in Parvat Yoga will be wealthy, eloquent, charitable, learned in shastras, fond of mirth, famous, splendorous, and be the leader of a city. (these yoga's are not found in case of Makara lagna) Garga Hora: Surya, Guru in 9th bhava: will subdue his enemies, be happy, will enjoy gains of corns and wealth, be amiable to the virtuous, and dear to the king. I found in my notes that when Ketu so conjoined with lord of 9th gives abundant fortune and extreme wealth, and Jupiter conjoined with Ketu in 9th makes one famous, very learned and wise. Now let's look at the quotes for Makara lagna: BPHS Ch 19.2 Short life: should the 8th lord join Ascendant lord or a malefic and be in the 8th itself, the native will be short-lived. Ch 24.10 Ascendant lord in 10th house: endowed with paternal happiness, royal honour (or patronage), fame among men, and will doubtlessly have self-earned wealth. Ch 24.14 2nd lord in 2nd (in case of Rahu): the native will be proud, wealthy, will have two or more wives, and be bereft of progeny. Ch 24.22 2nd lord in 10th (in case of Saturn): will be libidinous, honourable, and learned; he will have many wives and much wealth, but he will be bereft of filial happiness. Ch 24.32 3rd lord in 8th: the native will be a thief, will derive his livelihood serving others, and will die at the gate of the royal palace. Ch 24.41 4th lord in 5th: will be happy and liked by all; he will be devoted to Shri Vishnu, be virtuous, honourable, and will have self-earned wealth. Ch 24.57 5th lord in 9th: will be a prince, or equal to him, will author treatises, be famous, and will shine in his race Ch 24.69 6th lord in 9th: will trade in wood and stones ( " Pashan " also means poison) and will have fluctuating professional fortunes Ch 24.77 7th lord in 5th: honourable, endowed with all (i.e. seven principal) virtues, always delighted, and endowed with all kinds of wealth. Ch 24.92 8th lord in 8th: native will be long-lived. If the said planet is weak being in the 8th house, the longevity will be medium, while the native will be a thief, be blame worthy, and will blame others as well. Ch 24.105 idem as above Ch 24.117 10th lord in 9th: one born of royal scion will become a king whereas an ordinary native will be equal to a king. This placement will confer wealth and progenic happiness. Ch 24.125 11th lord in 5th (in case of Mars): will be happy, educated and virtuous. He will be religious, and happy. Ch 24.128 11th lord in 8th: incur reversals in his undertakings, and will live long while his wife will predecease him. Ch 36.11-12: Chamar Yog: if Ascendant's lord is exalted in a kendra and receives an aspect from Jupiter, Chamar Yoga is formed. This Yog also occurs if 2 benefics are in asc, or the 9th, or the 10th or the 7th house. The effects of Chamar Yog are: the native will be a king or honoured by the king, long lived, scholarly, eloquent, and versed in all arts. While the Amal Yoga and Parvat Yoga were existent in Dhanus lagna, they are not existent here, though the Chamar Yog is actually also existent in Dhanus lagna, having Venus and Mercury (2 benefics) in 10th house. Shyamasundara wrote to me: <<Another point is that I have numerous charts in which the lagna lord is conjoined rahu or ketu and it is not pretty. They either are physically or mentally disturbed or both with very rare exception. With Dhanus lagna lagna lord becomes afflicted by Ketu.>> This basic proposition of Shyamasundara to reject the Dhanus lagna, stating that when lagna lord conjoins the nodes, insanity or physical disturbance is produced, hereby is defeated in that there is an exception when Ketu conjoins 9th lord in the 9th, and no evils will be produced. Taking into consideration the quote from BPHS Ch. 10.9, if we take Ketu as a malefic, it is surrounded by benefics (Jupiter-Sun) and the trines (9th house) is occupied by benefics, Jupiter which is lagna lord and Sun, 9th lord, becomes a temporary benefic also, while also 10th, an angle, is occupied by benefics (Merc-Venus). Then we may surely conclude that no evils will come forth from such a Ketu, nor from the 9th house alltogether. It may give trouble though to children, being the 5th from the 5th. Another point is that when such a Ketu is aspected (or conjoined) by the maraka owner of 2nd or 7th (in this case Saturn aspects), death will come in major- or sub-period of Ketu. Srila Prabhupada left for the eternal abode in Vimshottari maha-dasha of Ketu, antardasha of Mercury, maraka 7th lord! Though both charts give quite similar results, I notice more contradictions in Makara lagna than in Dhanus lagna. Thus I am more inclined to accept the Dhanus lagna as the right chart. Anyway, judge for yourself. Your servant, Dhira Krsna dasa
