Namaste,

The answers to question 5 (in VRY exercise) were excellent. Everyone

answered the part on VRY intelligently. The answers given for success

in Jupiter dasa were also excellent. Here is my final answer to

exercise 5.

(1) Is there VRY?

Yes, there is. The 3rd lord Mars and the 12th lord Saturn are

conjoined.

However, this happens in a dusthana (12th). A VRY in dusthana is

effective if the planets involved are weak. It is not the case here.

If the planets involved are in a quadrant or a trine and if lagna

lord also joins them, then again VRY is powerful and sustainable.

Here, strong planets take part in VRY with lagna lords in a dusthana.

Saturn is in own sign and Mars is exalted.

So VRY is not really effective here.

(2) Why was Jupiter dasa so favorable?

There are many reasons. I will try to capture some key factors:

(a) Jupiter is the lord of AL and he occupies the 10th house from AL.

AL is more important for material success. He also owns and aspects

rajya pada.

(b) Jupiter is amatya karaka.

© He has 5 rekhas in ashtakavarga.

(d) D-10 is more important than rasi chart for career. In D-10,

Jupiter owns 10th and occupies 9th. That's an excellent placement.

(e) In D-10, he is in AL and A5. The 5th house shows one's support

and following. A5 shows the illusion related to it. It shows the

things based on which the world forms an impression about his

following, i.e it shows the trappings of power! The conjunction of

Jupiter with AL and A5 brings a raja yoga and makes Jupiter a

yogakaraka.

(f) GL is in Li in D-10. Jupiter is in the 5th from it and aspects it.

(g) Jupiter has 7 rekhas in D-10 ashtakavarga (use JHLite for

ashtakavarga of divisional charts!). The rasi occupied by him has 33

rekhas in SAV (samudaaya ashtakavarga). These two factors make

Jupiter a very very very strong planet for career.

(h) Jupiter has excellent avastha bala, being in Kautuka avastha

(state of eagerness). A planet in Kautuka avastha is eager to produce

results and it will produce immediate results when given a chance!!

The results attributed by Parasara to Jupiter in Kautuka avastha

are " very kind, curious, happy, honored, famous, good children " . A

benefic associated with 9th or 10th houses gives a raja yoga if it is

in Prakaasana (shining) or Kautuka (eager) avasthas.

Moreover, the magnitude of Jupiter's Kautuka avastha (state of

eagerness) is " cheshta " (cheshta = full, drishti = some, vicheshta =

negligible). [Note: For the details of these avasthas, read BPHS.]

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

Narasimha

The following statement doesn't appear to hold in my casting of the chart as

Jupiter is in Aquarius and AL is in Gemini, A5 is in Aries. Should this

refer to some other divisional chart?

Dear Nimmi,

As the exercise gave, I took the birthtime as 10:17 am

(IST). I get lagna at 13 Aq 15. So it is in the 5th from

Aq, i.e. in Ge, in D-10. Because Mercury is in Ar, AL is

in Aq. The 5th is Li. Its lord Venus is in Ge. So A5 is

in the 9th from Ge, i.e. Aq. What I gave is right.

By any chance, did you take the time as LMT instead of

IST?? If you did, then lagna in D-10 will be in Le, AL

will be in Ge and A5 will be in Ar. Your statements make

sense then.
