Guest guest
Om Namo Narayanaya Namaste friends, A few comments on some recent posts in " varahamihira " list: (1) Narayan, your reply to Sarajit on arudhas is absolutely wonderful and I am very delighted to see it! The way you made a distinction between self (lagna), maya/ illusion surrounding self (AL), true karma/action (10th), perceived karma/action (10th from AL) and maya surrounding action (A10) is brilliant. Keep it up! > > Here if A10 in D-10 represent workplace then should A-5 > > in D24 represent study institution. > > The A4 should represent study institution as the 4H in D24 > shows the subjects/courses one studies/undertakes. A4 in D-24 is the maya (illusion) associated with learning. Based on the place and environment in which one studied, we usually jump to conclusions about one's learning. If one studied at MIT, we may think that he is very learned and if one studied at some obscure college, we don't get the same impression. A4 in D-24 is the maya associated with one's knowledge and learning. A5 in D-24 shows the maya associated with one's scholarship. One of the things it can show is one's students. If you meet Narayan Iyer and get impressed by his knowledge and then he tells you that I am his guru, you will probably have a good impression about my own scholarship. In reality, I may not be good at all, but still you tend to think that someone with good students is a good scholar. One's ABILITIES (5th) are judged in this maya world based on the FOLLOWING one has. So A5 shows the maya associated with one's scholarship and abilities and it shows one's students and followers. The same thing is applicable in D-10 (profession). A5 shows followers and juniors. I made this point earlier: Sanjay's D-24 has A5 in Aq. So several of his students may have lagna in a trine from Aq (e.g. Robert, Vijay & SJVC have Li; Ashok & Sarat have Ge; and Dina-natha has Aq). Moreover, Sanjay's D-24 has Jupiter in Pi (2nd from A5!) and Mercury in Ge (5th from A5!) and hence Sanjay's students are typically soft-spoken (Jupiter in 2nd), brilliant in their logical faculties (Mercury in 5th) and have good vaagbala (Jupiter in 2nd). (2) Gauranga replied to Narayan: > > Since I am not an expert like Sanjay and Narasimha, I > > rarely use D1. I use the appropriate divisional chart. A10 > > in D10 should show the office. > > As far as my understanding goes, the Rasi chart is the root > of everything, so whatever indications are shown in the > divisional charts must have a confirmation in the Rasi as > well. I mean that we can't infer a particular result only > form the divisional chart if there's no signs for it in the > Rasi. Rather the indications in the Rasi chart are elaborated > in the apporpriate divisional chart. Both of you are right. However, how exactly rasi chart and vargas should be used *together* is something that is not very clear from classics and it is a fertile area for research. (3) Sarajit wondered why his Venus dasa is turning out to be " very bad " for his mother as predicted by his uncle. Narayan's reply based on D-12 is not very convincing (3rd and 10th lord in 7th is not really very bad). But his comments based on Kalachakra dasa are pretty convincing (dasa of 8th from matri lagna). Gauranga's reply is also excellent. Instead of always analyzing D-12 w.r.t. matri and pitri lagnas (i.e. 4th and 9th from lagna/Moon and lagna/Sun respectively), we should analyze it w.r.t. lagna also (as Gauranga did). Venus is sthira and chara MK (significator of mother) and he is in the 12th house in D-12. Venus dasa is running and the current D-12 Narayana dasa also belongs to the 12th house. Lagna in D-12 stands for self, from the point of view of happiness from parents. The 12th house shows losses and worries w.r.t. that. (4) If mother is sick or has troubles, we can also see that from matri shoola dasa. Start from the stronger of 4th and 10th in rasi chart (10th is the 7th from 4th). Progress zodiacally from there and give 9 years to each dasa. If the dasa sign has malefics or debilitated planets, trouble can be expected. If the dasa period has the aspect or conjunction of matri Rudra (lord of the stronger of 2nd and 8th from sthira matri karaka), it can be worse and death can occur. In Sarajit's case, current dasa and antardasa of Matri Shoola dasa have the malefic association of nodes and some suffering can be expected. (5) There is another principle here: In general, AK's dasa brings troubles to self, MK's dasa brings troubles to mother, BK's dasa brings troubles to brothers and so on. In Sarajit's case, Venus is MK! With that, I will sign off for now.... May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha
