Guest guest
OHM SHRI RAGAVENDRAYA NAMAH JAYA JAGANNATHA Namaste Narasimha, I am replying this mail to Varahamihira. Some time back when Gurudeva replied for Mr.Gauranga's question on Narayana dasa options in JHL's alpha version, he mentioned as follows. ''.....Dear GaurangaNarasimha has given that option so that we can use the same in the startingof the Narayana Dasa in divisional charts. Also it maybe that at times ourjudgement is better than the computer. In the D Charts they depend on the Lrd of a particlular house. There maybefour houses to check from when two lords are involved...." I thought somebody will ask the question raised by Mr.Robert at that time. This is for your information. Thanks Your sisya Solai Kannan Robert A. M. Joshi, in the January issue of "Jyotish News". Could you or Narasimha please answer the following question that I have pertaining to the calculation of Dr. Joshi's Dasamsa Narayana dasa:We were taught to take the 10th lord in the rasi chart, and find its location in the D-10 chart, and from that sign or its 7th (whichever is stronger) initiate the calculations of the Narayana dasa. Now, the question will naturally arise, as to your methodology in case the 10th lord of the rasi has dual lordship. According to our discussions of last year, the stronger lord *in the rasi chart* is determined first, and then taking that planet in the D-10, the Narayana dasa is calculated. You have calculated the stronger of the 2 lords (in the case of Joshi's chart, for Sc in 10th house of rasi chart, they are Mars and Ketu), according to their placement/aspects in the d-10 chart, and then started the Narayana dasas from the stronger. Now, if we take the former method (as is used also by Narasimha in the Alpha version of JHora software), the starting sign will be Cancer. According to your version of the calculations, the starting sign is Gemini. So how do you reconcile these differences, and which should be the correct method?Thank you for your reply -With regards,Robert=====================================Robert A. Guest guest
OM GURAVE NAMAHDear Solai, Robert & Narasimha, Thank you for forwarding this mail as I had missed it. Patraka Prabhu has raised a few nice questions: Q1: Whether the exaltation of Ketu gives 2 years for sagittarius in Dasamsa.. Yes it does and I have made the correction. Narasimha asked some further questions related to transits, but these are very advanced for the class as such. Q2: Whether the strength of the Lord is to be considered in the Division? Yes, very much. Strength of planets are to be considered in divisions and this is a part of the process of Vimsopaka bala. However, besides quantifying, there is a subjective element here. If the Lord of a house is weak in its concerned divisional chart, then many Rajyogas concerned to that D-Chart will fail just like the eclipse of the Sun ending all light of life.
