Guest guest
Jai Jai Sri Jagannath !!! Dear Chitra, I forgot to add a reply to one portion of your question. Here it is. You wrote: >If Mars is in 7th or 8th house in a muhurth chart for marriage is not good.< Mars (also known as Mangal or Kuja meaning fire) in the 7th or 8th is generally known as Mangala Dosha or Kuja Dosha or Angaraka Dosha - meaning the ill effects of Mars. Now, see this in the context of what I explained to you in my earlier mail, how Mars signifies celibacy/brahmacharya. It is because of the nature of the graha and the significance it shows, it is considered that Mars is not good for marriage. But the fact is, Mars in the 7th is not good for an early marriage and it cannot be generalized as 'not good for marraige'. Now, why are we talking of 8th? The second and 7th houses from a given house are its Marak Sthana or the houses of death. Thus, 8th becomes the mrityu sthana or the house of death for the 7th which is the house of marriage. You will learn subsequently that Mrityu or Death is ruled by Mars. Hence, Mars in the 8th is considered 'not good' for marriages. But this cannot be made a mandatory rule. It is a fundamental rule. There can be exceptions in the chart which will oppose these effects or dosha and will show the remedies to be carried out. So, never judge such charts with a fundamental bias in the mind about the placement of Mars. Look for the remedies or Nivarana, look at the Upapada (first and the subsequent ones), look at the Navamsa etc., to see what does the horoscope promise, or in other words, what does Narayana signify - what is HIS desire, and then decide the significance/resul/readings. Hope it is amply clear now. However, as explained earlier, the ill effects of Mars, in any case, will subside after the age of 28. Hence, you may also find people saying that those with the Martian effects in the 7th etc., should marry late in life i.e., after 28 when the negative effects of Mars are diminished. This is one of the remedies. You may find many marriages still going very good and strong with such a placement of Mars. In fact, every 6th or 7th person out of 10 will have a predominant Martian effect in his/her horoscope. Otherwise why will we be born on this earth? Can you think and tell me an answer to this. Before closing, I must tell you that what you had asked was a very fundamental question. Such questions or matters of general astrological nature will be most welcome in the Class List - i.e., at varahamihira where all other students also benefit from the replies. You may do so in future. Other Gurus such as Sanjayji, Narasimha, Patraka Dasa (Sri Robert Koch) besides myself will also be able to help and guide. As for anything personal that needs to be discussed, Yes, you are quite free to ask on my personal mail addresses, which I think you possess already. With best wishes, Sarat Chander. - Chitra Wijewickrama Sarat Chander Sunday, March 12, 2000 12:52 AM lessons Dear Sarat, Sanjay's lesson#1 is very illuminating. The importance of three gunas in the horoscope is well explained. I am doing the guru mantra and the Vyasa mantra daily. I started the Ganesha beeja mantra 108 times on Saturday night. Is it to be recited 108 times daily? I have got all the 6 books that you have recommended. I have a question. In a recent post to the list Sanjay was saying that Mars is the karaka for celebacy/brhmacharya. If Mars is in 7th or 8th house in a muhurth chart for marriage is not good. Why is Mars called Mangal. Could you please explain . Thank you and pranaams your sishya Chitra
