Namaste friends,

A discussion on karakas got converted into a discussion on Vishnu vs

Shiva and the recent message list in the archives is filled with these

two holy names! Now we should get back to astrology.

I will recapitulate/conclude my discussion on karakas:

(1) Brahma creates the universe. Naisargika karakas show everything

that exists. They are ruled by Brahma. All the nine planets become

naisargika karakas, because they all exist in Brahma's creation.

(2) Vishnu sustains the universe. Chara karakas show people who play a

role in one's sustenance. They are ruled by Vishnu. As Ketu (moksha)

is the purpose of sustenance and not a part of one's sustenance,

mokshakaraka Ketu does not become chara karaka.

This is why chara karakas play a role in raja yogas as per Parasara.

Chara putra karaka (PK) shows the followers of a native and the

conjunction of AK and PK shows self and followers working in unison.

AK and PK in 1st/5th also shows self and followers working together.

That gives a raja yoga and good followers.

PiK in badhaka sthana from dasa rasi can show trouble from father or

bosses. AmK's favorable argala on dasa rasi can show a strong role

played by a good advisor (Amatya = minister or advisor). And so on.

(3) Shiva rules over death and destruction. Sthita karakas show the

people who matter to one, from the point of view of death. They are

ruled by Shiva. Only the seven planets have physical bodies and only

they become sthira karakas.

Shoola dasa shows the motion of Shiva's force. When Shoola dasa

belongs to a trine from arudha lagna, it can result in the native's

death. Similarly, when Pitri Shoola Dasa (Shoola dasa started from the

stronger of 9th and 3rd instead of 1st and 7th) belongs to a trine

from A9 (arudha pada of 9th) or sthira pitri karaka, it can result in

father's death.

The 3 types of karakas show 3 totally different things and they should

not be used in a mixed up way.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

Narasimha
