Yes, I am aware of that. But if you read any of the standard texts when

describing planets they only mention names of the planets and their order

(Sun, Moon, Mars...), hora is never mentioned at this point in any of the

standard texts. That creates impression that hora order was created in order

to accommodate the order of planets and their rulership of the days of the

week as I wrote before. I know that this doesn't make so much sense but as I

said it is an impression that a person may get.

Second point is as Manpreet wrote that the day is ruled by the planet that

rules first hora of that day. In that case only if we start horas from Sun

counting reverse skipping one planet shall we arrive that Moon rules Monday.

I can understand that we started from the Sun since hora is connected with

motion of the Sun (starts and sunrise, the day is ruled by ruling planet of

the hora at sunrise, initial count started from Sun and word hora itself

comes from words aho and ratra which means day and night (again connected to

motion of Sun)), otherwise the order of days in the week would have been

different. So if we can understand why is the order of horas the way it is

than it would be easier to understand the order of the planets and order of

the days of the week. Hora is most basic division of time and and the whole

science of predicting good and bad events is called hora shastra, so I feel

that is very important to understand how it works.

For example if the order in which we count horas is same but direct instead

of reverse, than the order of the days in the week would be reverse (Sunday,

Saturday, Friday, Thursday, Wednesday)...compared to present onen which also

includes the rulership of the days in the week which would make many other

things different too.

The only similarity between hora order and planets is in the speed of motion

of the planets compared to order of horas as Narasimha pointed out. I don't

know if there is there any shastric reference for this or is it only

Narasimha's observation?

Is anyone aware of any other points in this connection?

Hare Krishna,

Dina-natha Das.
