Guest guest
Ohm Shri Ragavendraya Namah, Dear Gurudeva, Pravrajayoga: - I don’t know the exact meaning of prefix “Prav”. I think either it must mean superior than Rajayoga or a higher degree of Rajayoga. PRAVRAJAYOGA means SANYASA, renunciation. Why is this renunciation related to Rajayoga? The highest level of Rajayoga denotes Kingly nature. King means Ruler, Caring for the people, Supreme among the people, Leader etc., A Sanyasi, has all these King’s qualities and more. A spiritually renunciated saint Rules the mind and heart of his followers, he cares for the people, he is Supreme among his followers and he leads them in a right path. He is greater than a King. He is elevated from the material world. Moreover, Kings fall on the feet of Saints and get the blessings. So, Pravrajayoga is far superior than any other yoga. We can see more people with some kind of Rajayoga. But, Pravrajayoga is rare. As per Brihat Jataka, the Pravrajayoga is formed when 4 or more planets are in one Rasi and all of them are strong. I couldn’t find an example which matches this criteria. This type of Pravrajayoga is very rare and happens ones in several years or yugas. Perhaps, the greatest saints like Veda Viasa might have it.
