Guest guest
Om Krishnaaya Namah Hi Everybody, Jaya Sri Krishna. I am sorry for not replying to the Raja Yoga question, but I haven't been able to check my mail till today. So here's my attempt on the Pravrajya Yoga Question. " What is the meaning of Pravrajya Yoga? Do illustrate. " Pravrajya Yoga refers to combinations of astrological factors which cause renunciation, perhaps combined with the adoption of certain disciplines. The exact degree of renunciation will depend on the strength of the Yogas in the chart, and many of these Yogas may be found listed in most classical texts. The chapter in BPHS is 79 (I think) in the Ranjan edition, or 81 in Sagar's edition. There are also other hints scattered around, particularly in the Jaimini Sutras, where we are told that benefics in the third and sixth from the AL indicate poverty (which may be considered a part of renunciation), and also the affliciton of the second house from the Upa Pada etc. Our enormous task is to understand enough about the different factors, so that we may understand the implications behind each shloka of each text :-) Example - Sri Mahanidhi Swami 6 February 1951 12:56pm Neptune City, USA 40N13' 74W02' (Chart on page 563 of Sanjay's COVA) 1. We have Ketu in the Arudha Lagna which tends to attract the native to spirituality. 2. The conjunction of the Lagna Lord with the twelfth Lord (foreign residency), Rahu (foreign countries) and Jupiter (Travel) indicates foreign residency, particularly because it is in the tenth, Karma Bhava, indicating he shall carry out his duties in a foreign place. The conjunction of the first and twelfth Lords also gives a hint of renunciation. 3. This combination of planets is also a Pravrajya Yoga according to most classics - four planets in a sign, with none weak. None are in enemy signs, while Rahu is in his own house, and Mars gets Dig Bala in a neutral sign. None of them are combust making this a powerful Yoga. Being in the house of Karma, it's effect is enhanced. 4. Benefics in the third and sixth/Affliction of the second from Upa Pada - This is kinda contradictory here, because the third from AL has no planets, but the sixth happens to also be the second from the Upa Pada. So if there's malefics here, it causes Pravrajya by afflicting the second from UL, while if benefics, Pravrajya is caused by benefics in the sixth from AL. There are the Moon, Sun and Mercury in this place, which from the Upa Pada are considered benefic, and so should help prevent renunciation, while the majority being benefics in the sixth from AL should help Pravrajya. I personally solve this contradictory situation by accepting the latter interpretation (20/20 hindsight :-), due to the other spiritual factors in the chart. 5. We also have atmakaraka Moon in the Navamsha Lagna, which seems to also be pushing towards renunciation, so I assume that helps? That's all for now and I look forward to any constructive criticism, Hare Krishna, Pursottam __________ Get your free @.co.uk address at http://mail..co.uk or your free @.ie address at http://mail..ie
