Dear Gurudev,

here are my answers from lesson 3.

1) Why do the five planets have lordship over two signs while the luminaries have lordship over one sign?

Whole zodiac comprises from 360ÿ and is divided in two halves (180ÿ each). Owner of the south half (0 degree Leo to 0ÿ Aquarius) is Sun and owner of the north half (1 degree Aquarius to 30ÿ degree Cancer) is Moon. Jyotish is centered around two luminaries; Sun & Moon, so this division of ownership is basis of determining ownership for the other planets. Other planets are five in number, so every half of zodiac is divided in 6 parts, each of 30 degree. One part of half is ruled by luminaries and other parts are ruled by other planets. So every of the five planets get in ownership two parts or two signs, one in southern half, and other in northern half.

2) Determine the ayana of the planets in the horoscope of the person born on 7th Aug. 1963, at 9:15 PM IST at 21N28, 84E1.

Dakshinayana (southern, Sun's half): Venus, Sun, Mercury, Mars.

Uttarayana (northern, Moon's half): Jupiter, Moon, Saturn.

3) Determine the ayana of the Moon in your horoscope and also the days after your birth when the Moon changed the ayana.

Moon in my horoscope is at 8 degree of Capricorn, so it's Dakshinayana. Two days after my birth Moon changed the ayana, he entered Aquarius.

4) Attempt to explain the mantra given inside the Bha Chakra.

I suppose that this mantra is "Om bhur bhuvah svah". Bhur, bhuvah and svah means three worlds or planetary systems in this universe. These three words indicate the totality of all levels of existence in the universe, which is the effect of Supreme cause. Many spiritual masters explained "Om", and as long as I understood it; Om is comprised of three letters A, U, M. Letter A stands for Supreme Personality of Godhead, U for His spiritual energy, and M for living entities. So, "Om" is complete representation of Supreme Wholeness or Supreme Being, Bhagavan or God.

5) Derive the order of the weekdays from the order of the seven Dwipa. Is there any correlation between the speed of the planets and the seven Hora's?

The seven dwipas are (in their order);

Chandra dwipa

Budh dwipa

Sukra dwipa

Surya dwipa

Mangal dwipa

Guru dwipa

Sani dwipa

Chandra's (Moon) and Surya's (Sun) days are Monday and Sunday. Every planet then get one day; Mangal (Mars, he is next in order from Sun) gets Tuesday, Budh (Mercury, next in order from Moon) gets Wednesday, Guru (Jupiter, next from Mars) - Thursday, Sukra (Venus) - Friday and Sani (Saturn) - Saturday.

Correlation between speed of the planets and the seven Hora's exist; order of the dwipas is also order of their speed. Planet which is nearest to Earth is the fastest (Moon - Chandra), then comes Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

6) What are the Drishya and Adrishya signs? What do they imply?

Signs from lagna to 6th house are Adrishya signs or invisible signs (signs in invisible hemisphere) and signs from 7th house to 12th are Drishya signs or visible signs (or signs in visible hemisphere). Invisible hemisphere is hemisphere from east (lagna) to west (descendent), this part of hemisphere is in night and is called invisible. Other hemisphere is visible or day's hemisphere.

This are my answers. If someone wants to comment or correct I will be grateful.

Thank you,

yours servant

Darpaha dasa.
