Dear Rajesh ji and others,

Happy Vijaya Dasami (Dussehra/Dassara)!

I actually answered your question by saying " yes " . Varga chakras of annual

charts are analyzed just like in natal charts. But you seem to want more. Here

is more.

* * *

You asked - what is the link between the natal chart and annual chart?

Well, the main link is muntha - annual progressed ascendant. Ascendant is

progressed by one sign per year. Annual charts are analyzed by taking this

muntha as a referenbce point (lagna).

Tajaka annual (1 year), monthly (1 month) and hora (2.5 day) charts are nothing

but charts of dasa, antardasa and pratyantardasa entry (pravesh), as per

Sudarsana Chakra (SC) dasa. The rasi whose dasa will start is important in a

dasa pravesh chart (i.e. chart drawn for the moment when a dasa starts) and this

is why muntha is important in Tajaka charts (muntha represents the rasi whose SC

dasa will start).

Though muntha is progressed *ascendant*, some traditional pandits progress Sun

also and that can also be done, especially if Sun is stronger than lagna in

natal chart.

In fact, maharshi Parasara clearly said that lagna, Moon and Sun should all be

used for SC dasa. If SC dasa is the basis for muntha (as I am *speculating*),

then it makes sense to take the stronger of lagna, Moon and Sun in the natal

chart for progressing.

You can use muntha in divisional charts also. Muntha is more important than

lagna.

However, I define muntha in divisional charts differently from the mainstream.

Most people progress lagna longitude by 30 degrees per year and find the

divisional chart positions for the longitude thus obtained. Some people use the

same sign occupied by muntha in rasi chart in all divisions. My approach is

different.

If you remember that muntha is nothing but dasa rasi as per SC dasa, you will

understand the rationale behind my definition.

Let us say natal lagna is in Li in rasi chart and Ta in dasamsa. Let us say the

native's 27th year is about to start. Because 27 modulo 12 is 3, muntha in rasi

chart is in the 3rd from natal lagna, i.e. in Sg. Now, my definition progresses

lagna in the divisional chart and we get muntha in dasamsa in Cn (3rd from Ta).

Let me give just one example for now:

Take India's PM Atal Behari Vajpayee (25 Dec 1926, 5:12:30 am (IST), 78e10,

26n14). In his natal rasi and dasamsa, Sc is lagna. He started his 73rd year in

Dec 98 and muntha in annual chart was Sc. All approaches give muntha (based on

lagna) in Sc in dasamsa.

Now let us explain some facts. In Sun's Patyayini dasa, he fell from power

(though he remained as caretaker PM). As soon as Venus dasa started, he came

back with a higher majority than ever. Why did Sun give a fall in career and

Venus give success?

From Sc, Sun owns 10th and occupies 5th (in annual chart's dasamsa). Why fall?

From Sc, Venus is a functional malefic. Why success?

* * *

Here is why:

In natal dasamsa, Moon is stronger than Sun and lagna. Parasara suggested taking

all the three referenbces for SC dasa and mixing the results. But Moon will

dominate here. Starting from Moon (Cp), we get Cp for the 73rd year (73 modulo

12 = 1). Computing muntha in my way and using Moon instead of lagna, we get

" dasamsa muntha (based on Moon) " in Cp. Now analyze the dasa pravesh dasamsa

(i.e. dasamsa of annual chart) w.r.t. Cp.

Sun owns 8th from Cp and occupies 3rd. Being 8th lord, he gave fall. Being a

malefic lord in a malefic house (3rd), he gave success after setbacks. In other

words, it wasn't a complete fall - nobody else could replace him and he remained

as a caretaker PM.

Venus is a yogakaraka w.r.t. Cp (5th and 10th lord!) and occupies 7th! A

yogakaraka in 7th can give a high position. So Venus dasa from October 6th

brought success at the hustings.

This was one of the reasons that made me write in print that Vajpayee would come

back with an improved position.
