Guest guest
Dear Gurus, Here is my attempt at this lesson. I am sure some of my answers are completely wrong, but i have tried to come to some sort of sensible answer. 1 Why do the five planets have lordship of two houses whereas the luminaries have ownership of one house only? Jataka Parijata (II.2) gives: " The Sun and the Moon are sovereigns. Guru and Sukra are counsellors. Budha is the young prince; Mars is the commander in chief and Saturn is the servant " . Since each sovereign will have counsellors, heir apparents, commanders and servants to serve them, these planets are given ownership of two houses (one in Dakshinayana ruled by the Sun and another in Uttarayana ruled by the Moon). Since the Sun and Moon are both sovereigns, the Sun will not have a house in the area ruled by the Moon, and the Moon will not have a house in the area ruled by the Sun. 2 Determine the ayana of the planets in the horoscope of a native born on 7th August 1963 at 9:15 PM IST at 21N28, 84E01 (Sambalpur India) Planet Position Pada Ayana ---------------------- su Sun 21 Cn 4 Aslesha 2 16.5088 mo Moon 19 Aq 59 Satabhisha 4 -10.4087 me Mercury 13 Le 22 Pubba 1 9.49169 ve Venus 14 Cn 55 Pushyami 4 19.1401 ma Mars 13 Vi 40 Hasta 2 -2.51588 ju Jupiter 26 Pi 7 Revati 3 6.2755 R sa Saturn 26 Ca 49 Dhanishta 2 -15.922 R ra Rahu 25 Ge 45 Punarvasu 2 22.0817 ke Ketu 25 Sa 45 Poorvashadha 4 -22.0817 *L Lagna 14 Pi 8 Uttarabhadra 4 3 Determine the Ayana of the Moon in your horoscope and also the days after your birth when the Moon changed the ayana. The mantra given is " OM haum jum sah " . From the article on the sjvc site on Mriryunjaya mantra, this is the combination of Vamadeva Rishi's Sadashiva Beejamantra " OM haum sah " , and Kahola Rishi's Mrityunjaya Beejamantra " OM jum sah " . The first one " gives all happiness and removes all evils and sins. Tamas is destroyed resulting in quick progress into Satwa Guna. " The second one " gives good health, vitality and the native as removed from sin. The intelligence is restored and all forms of black magic etc. are destroyed by the insurmountable OMNIPOTENT Lord Shiva in the form of TRYAMBAKESHWARA " . So the mantra given inside the Bha Chakra invokes Lord Shiva to destroy all negative things to remove the veil of maya clouding our eyes, and lead us into Satwa guna, which is the role of jyotisha. ( From Lesson 1, " The role of a Jyotisha - is very important in helping the mankind to get out of the whirlpool of maya in Kaliyuga. He is the one who is endowed with the knowledge to discriminate between the self and the non-self and help others also do so by teaching them Sattwa gunas and total surrender to God. " ) 5 Derive the order of the weekdays from the order of the seven Dwipa. Is there any correlation between the speed of the planets and the seven Hora's? The order of the seven dwipa is given below from moon to saturn. The first two days in a week have to start with the two luminaries, Sun and Moon giving Sunday and Monday. Next, if we alternate between the planets below Sun and Moon, we get Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn, giving us the weekdays from Sunday to Saturday. However, I am not sure why this gives the correct order. Moon monday Mercury wednesday Venus friday Sun sunday Mars tuesday Jupiter thursday Saturn saturday Yes, there is a correlation between speed and the seven Hora's. As the speed of the planets decreases, the distance between the houses owned by the planet, and the houses owned by Sun increases. Guest guest
JAYA JAGANNATHA! Dear Gurudeva, Pranaams. ASSIGNMENT 1.. Why do the five planets have lordship of two houses whereas the luminaries have ownership of one house only? The luminaries represeint divinity in the chart (Sun is Rama and Moon is Krishna, or they are the two eyes of Lord Vishnu etc.). Therefore these planets are not subject to dualities as the other five. The light (Jyoti) is coming from the eyes of the Supreme Lord, and therefore the luminaries represent Him, and Jyotish is the eye of the Veda, which is also the incarnation of the Lord. On the other hand, the remaining five grahas reflect the light emanating from the luminaries, therefore they have not only light, but shadow as well, which is the root of dualities. Duality is the principal quality of Maya, or illusion, therefore these planets will each rule one Subha and one Asubha Rasi (an odd and an even sign) which represent their higher or lower aspects. Rahu and Ketu, being Aprakashaka grahas, lose this quality of duality, and will become only sublords of one sign each. By the way, Scorpio is even, so it's Subha, while Aquarius is odd, so is Asubha, and therefore we can accept Ketu as a natural benefic while Rahu as a natural malefic. 2.. Determine the ayana of the planets in the horoscope of a native born on 7th August 1963 at 9:15 PM IST at 21N28, 84E01 (Sambalpur India) This is Your chart! Jaya Gurudeva! Moon, Jupiter, Rahu, Sun and Venus are Uttarayana, while Mercury, Mars, Ketu and Saturnus are Dakshinayana. 3.. Determine the Ayana of the Moon in your horoscope and also the days after your birth when the Moon changed the ayana. Moon was in Uttarayana at my birth (4 deg 41 min in Gemini) and I was born on the 9th of Jan 1971. The Moon changed to Leon on the 14th, i.e. 5 days after my birth. 4.. Attempt to explain the Mantra given inside the Bha Chakra. I cannot read out Devanagari script. Could You give the roman transliteration? 5.. Derive the order of the weekdays from the order of the seven Dwipa. Is there any correlation between the speed of the planets and the seven Hora's? It looks like the dwipas form two groups: One beginning with the Sun and ending with the Saturn, and the other beginning with the Moon and endign with Venus. I rewrite them below: Sun Moon Mars Mercury Jupiter Venus Saturn So we take the first planet of the first column, that will lord the first day (Sunday) then the first of the second column (Monday), then thesecond of the first, the second of the second, etc until we come to Saturn, the lord of the 7th day (Saturday). The speed of the rotation of the planets decrease from Mercury to Saturnus, therefore the farther is the sign from Leo and Cancer, the slower its lord is. Your shishya, Gauranga das -------------------------------- --------------- [1] Bhumandala is the plane that is perfectly perpendicular to the line from the centre of Earth to Pole Star which is known as Dhruv Tara. It was Maharishi Vishwamitra who found Dhruv Tara. The plane of the Bhumandala is drawn by fixing the Pole Star and relating the axis of Earth to it. There are three mandalas - they are (i) Bhumandala (ii) Bhuvamandala and (iii) Swargamandala - known as Bhur Bhuva Swa in the Gayatri Mantra. [2] Graha is an object or a point in space which influences human life. [3] The path of the graha while rotating round the earth (geocentric) is like an elongated spring that has an inner and outer radius. The space between this inner and the outer radius is defined as Dweepa. There are 7 Dweepas formed by the 7 grahas (from Moon to Saturn) referred to by Sri Adi Sankara. The last Dweepa is formed by Saturn and the colour of this Dweepa in Kaliyuga is golden. [4] Rahu and Ketu are treated as Aparaksha grahas or abstract planets. [5] The 360 degrees of the zodiac is based on the system of mathematical system of 60s prevalent then: 360 degrees = 60 Ghatikas 1 Ghati = 60 Pal 1 Pal = 60 Vipal which is something similar to our present system of 60 secs. = 1 minute and 60 minutes = 1 hour.] [6] Dwadasaditya: Dwadas = 12 + Aditya = Sun, meaning the 12 signs of the Sun. Guest guest
ASSIGNMENT: 1.Because there are two ayanas starting from sun(atma) and moon(manas) to form the circle..On the bases of proximity of planets, each is given one sign in the corresponfing ayana. If we include the planatary cabinet, The King(sun) and the Queen (moon) are each given a prince(mercury than a ministar(venus), than a commander-in-chief(mars) than an adviser(jupiter) than a servent(saturn) 2.Sy-uttarayan, Ch-uttarayan, Ma-dakshinayan, Bu-dakshinayan, Gu-uttarayan,Sk-uttarayan, Sa-dakshinayan(This is your chart) 3. Moon at 3.30m cancer thus, uttarayan. Moon approximately moves one nakshatra a day. It takes about 2.5 days to pass through a sign. So, moon changed the ayana for about 2 days 4. This is Gayatri mantra, I think. It should free the person of karma created in bhu, bhuva and swarga mandala 5.Sun and moon being the soul and atma are given the first, and the second day of the week.Than mangala dweepa is closer to sun, while budha dweepa to moon thus, next days are given to mars and mercury. Than comes venus dweepa and saturn dweepa so the 5.day is given to venus while 6. to saturn. With best regards, Zoran
