It is my humble experience and opinion that the ownerships and functional nature matter more than inherent nature (i.e. natural benefic or natural malefic). If a functional benefic, Mars or Saturn can give good results. If a functional malefic, Jupiter or Venus can give bad results. This is true for natal as well as annual charts. Just before reading this mail, I was reading Robert Koch's mail in which he told me I could discuss his accidents on the list for the benefit of others. He had another accident this weekend in which his left hand (other hand) was severely burnt. His birthdata: 18 Sept 1947, 8:23:43 am (PST: 8:00W), 122w27, 37n47. Guess which planet brought it? It is the ultimate natural benefic - Jupiter! If you take the annual chart, Jupiter-Jupiter as per Patyayini dasa and Rahu-Jupiter as per Mudda dasa were running this weekend. Jupiter brought the accident, despite being a functional benefic. Jupiter owns 3rd and 12th from lagna and is a functional malefic. He is a functional malefic w.r.t. muntha also (standard muntha Aq as well as my redefined muntha Cp - based on Sun here). He afflicts Saturn, lord of lagna and munthas. Of course, being with Rahu in the 6th (accidents) from muntha in Rudramsa (D-11, chart of death, destruction and bodily blows) may have made Jupiter a likely planet for giving injuries, but the fact remains that he is a functional malefic in rasi chart. Had he been a well-posited functional benefic, he may not have given the same result. Another thing for those who know Rudramsa mandooka dasa (see Sanjay's book for definition): Robert's first accident of right hand (Aug 13, about 2:30 pm) came in Vi-Sg-Cn-Pi as per D-11 mandooka dasa. His second accident of left hand (Oct 16, about 1 pm) came in Vi-Sg-Ar-Pi. Note the common sookshma dasa. Pi is the 6th house (accidents). Vi has its lord Jupiter and mrityu pada. Sg has Mars and Vi/Pi aspect it. The pratyantardasa/sookshma signs are usually aspected by relevant karaka and GK Sun aspects Cn and Ar here. Sookshma dasa sign is the 6th house - perfect candidate. Another note on natal-Tajaka links: You can see that Jupiter is an active significator of injurious accidents (6th lord in mrityu pada aspecting 6th) in natal D-11. When Jupiter has such significations in an annual chart also, there is a higher chance of fructification than some other planet. When we see the same planets coming to the fore in the annual chart as in the natal chart, we can suspect that something may happen.
