Guest guest
OHM SHRI RAGAVENDRAYA NAMAH JAYA JAGANNATHA Pranam Gurudeva, ** Om Gurave Namah** Gurudeva, it is our Poorvapunya we have you and SJVC for us to teach Jyotish, even we are stationed far away from you. Unfortunately, we are not blessed to have your teaching physically in Delhi. In this way I had some thought about Varahamihira classes. You are repeated telling us to Study BPHS first and understand it properly, then re-read, re-read very often. Also you and Narasimha stresses that it should be learnt only with the help of a Gurudeva. As the non-Sanskrit persons, we are handicapped in two ways (1) As every one of us know, the present day translations are not complete. Some of the sentences, do not make any sense and there are so many contradictory sentences given for a sloka. Further, some of the words translated do not represent the true Sanskrit words. Like, NITHI is translated as treasure. It must be Finance. (2) There are so so so many inherent meanings hidden between words, between lines. For this we definitely need a GURU. There is no doubt that the need for your translation for BPHS is compelling. If you are going to release your translation soon, we need not proceed further in the mail. Otherwise, I have a suggestion for the benefit of all the students. I present the suggestion before you for your kind consideration. We all understand the time constraints of you and other Gurus. Considering the time constraints and the quietness of our Varahamihira list, what I suggest is let our Varahamihira lessons continue as we are doing now. Meanwhile, parallely, we can have discussions on each or a set of chapters in BPHS and we can schedule the discussions. Say for example:- 1 Jan 2001 - 7th Jan 2001 - Chapters 1-4 8th Jan 2001 - 15th Jan 2001 - Chapters 7-8. and so on. Of course, this is only an example, if you agree on this, the actual chapters and schedule will be given by you. It is also open that now also we can ask any questions arising while reading BPHS. But, when a set of chapters are selected and a time frame is there, then all can participate and it will be like a class room. We are all going to read some chapters and ask the questions on them. So, it will be a sort of class discussion on particular lessons. This schedule will be continuous, whether, some body is on the list or off the list this schedule will continue. Also, the our present Lesson system is independent of this BPHS classes. So, both can run parallely. After, we finish we can take up other classical texts like Saravali etc., I hope every one in Varahamihira will be benefited in this way. It is only my suggestion.
