Thank you for that input but I would like to suggest an alternative reason. That being that Brhaspati himself once approached his sister-in-law Mamata who was already pregnant and raped her. By his potency she again became pregnant, the child being Bharadvaja Rsi. I think that this is more fitting for the following reasons: 1) In the case that you mention it is Brhaspati who is sinned against, his marriage bed being despoiled by another. 2) In the present case mentioned by me, it is Brhaspati himself who is the culprit. However in both cases whether sinner or sinned against Brhaspati the ruler of Pusya seems to have ill luck regarding marriage. Hare Krsna!
