Guest guest
Vyaam Vyaasa Devaaya Namaha Namaste Mu, I have read several of your posts and I also saw your chart. I am sure you have a lot of important contributions to make to the cause of astrology. Here are a couple of comments from a brother who was brought up in Indian tradition and culture. > The other day, I was asked by a poster what links I > had to other Astrologers that he thought, were of " Big > Four " status. I responded, but later that evening, at > home, I thought about the whole thing > > First off, I think there is a need for New Blood in > Asrology/Jyotish. New blood is always good. In any case, new blood replacing old blood is a *natural* phenomenon, over which we need not lose any sleep. If you mean innovation and new concepts by new blood, I *personally* will be better off with 'ancient' blood. > I think that those whose job it is to keep these > conferences going, should make it their BUSINESS to > get to the bottom of this question, lest they run the > risk of having the pool of Astrology dry up. Friend, maharshis were happy teaching a bunch of students in their hermitages. They never demanded recognition. Some maharshis chose just one deserving student, taught him everything they knew and felt fulfilment. They didn't look for recognition and for the strength of numbers. Having one deserving student was thought to be better than having thousand unworthy students. They strived for inner satisfaction than outward recognition. Still the " pool of Astrology " did not " dry up " . Of course, not everyone may be able to appreciate the wisdom in this approach. One doesn't need to lecture in " these conferences " to keep the jyothi (light) of Jyotish (astrology) burning. If you share your knowledge (and passion for pursuing True Knowledge) with others on these lists, that is enough to keep the light burning. If you have the heart, you can contribute in your own way! BTW, you are most welcome to contribute to my list (vedic astrology/info.html). It is not the same as lecturing in a " conference " , but we have many eager listeners and your contributions will be highly appreciated. > I think that " The Big Four " , as Sateesh called us, is > a needed thing in AStrology/Jyotish. I don't think > that it is any accident that we all would be on the > tip of his tongue, and I think that we can definitely > do our part to carry on Astrology/Jyotish into the > next millennium. I am sorry if I sound rash below, but it is time I said it. I greatly respect every other person in this " Big Four " list. But before people get carried away with this thing, let me put it in perspective. I am flattered that I made it to this list, but tell me - how much does our passionate and well-meaning young friend Sateesh, who came up with the list, know about the capabilities of various members?? How capable is *he* of judging them? (Sorry Sateesh! I know that your intentions were good and appreciate your energetic presence.) I have interacted with many Vedic astrologers on different lists over the last couple of years and there are many capable and talented astrologers making tremendous contributions to the cause of astrology out there. Some are young and some are older. They all deserve to be in any " Big n " list. They may be too mature to lose sleep over not being in this " Big Four " list, but it is not fair on our part to ignore them. The list of Sateesh is *grossly incomplete* and also inapproapriate in my humble view. So let us do away with this " Big Four " thing. Each of us has special gifts and we can all make our own contributions and strengthen astrology without classifying people as big and small. If we sincerely strive to find the Truth and to help others in doing so, without expecting anything in return, the light of Jupiter will certainly shine on us. THAT is more important than recognition, fame, lecturing in conferences and awards. Thanks for listening, May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha ------------------------------ Narasimha P.V.R.
