Guest guest
Om Krishnaaya Namah Dear Sanjay, Before I go on I would like to apologise for not replying to the Lesson more promptly. As I am in the middle of exams right now, time is a big difficulty and I only check my Email to ensure that I don't overflow. A couple of times I have, and if anybody received bounced messages, please accept my sincere apologies. I hope to devote a lot more time to Jyotish after next week, when my exams finish and I have a long three month break. For now, here my answers to the assignment which came with Lesson three - " The Bhumandala " . 1. Why do the five planets have lordship of two houses whereas the luminaries have ownership of one house only? I'm not entirely sure here, but here's a guess. Since we are discussing 'Ownership' i.e. 'Lordship', perhaps BPHS 3:14-15 is relevant. Parashara expalins that the Sun and Moon are King and Queen respectively, and Lesson Three explains that Half the Zodiac is under the general ownership of the Queen, and half that of the King. To manage (or even govern?) this land, the King and Queen are going to need Ministers (Jupiter and Venus), a Senapati (Mars) etc. Of course if they have these cabinet members, they must also be treated nicely and be given land. We read in the Itihaasa's and Purana's how Senapati's and Yuvaraja's etc all had their own nice little palaces, land etc. in the kingdom and in the same way, the planetary cabinet must also have this stuff. So assuming for example that the Sun wants Mars to be Senapati, then the King (Sun) will have to give the Senapati (Mars) his own little portion of zodiacal land i.e. Scorpio. In the same way, when the Moon chooses Mars, she'll have to to give some land i.e. Aries. This happens with the entire cabinet. So we end up with Sun being the overlord of the Zodiac. He's the King and Moon's the Queen, and they share this zodiac, and they become overlords of half the zodiac each. The both have their own palace each (Leo and Cancer respectively). The other planets which form the rest of the cabinet, are given a bit of land by both the King and Queen and so own a sign in the Sun's half, and in the Moon's half. Or so I think... 2. Determine the ayana of the planets in the horoscope of a native born on 7th August 1963 at 9:15 PM IST at 21N28, 84E01 (Sambalpur, India) In your horoscope Sanjay, the Moon, Jupiter, Rahu, Sun and Venus are in Uttarayana. Mercury, Mars, Ketu and Saturn are in Dakshinayana. 3. Determine the Ayana of the Moon in your horoscope and also the days after your birth when the Moon changed the ayana. In my chart, the Moon is in Leo, and is therefore in Dakshinayana. It changed ayana again 12 days after my birth. 4. Attempt to explain the Mantra given inside the Bha Chakra. The Mantra inside the Guru chakra is " OM HAUM JUM SAH " In Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says in many places that He is Om. Therefore the Om invokes the Supreme Lord, Sri Krishna and his blessings. I think Haum is a Bija which invokes Lord Shiva, who is Devadideva i.e. the most powerful among demigods, and one of the Lord's most dear devotees. I'm not sure about Jum and Sah, although I think Sah is linked to the Ajna chakra i.e. the third eye, which gives intuition etc. In the Surya chakra, the Mantra is " OM HRIM SHRIM KLIM " Again Om invokes Lord Krishna, while I think Hrim Shrim Klim invoke His Bhu, Sri and Nila shakti's respectively? 5. Derive the order of the weekdays from the order of the seven Dwipa. Is there any correlation between the speed of the planets and the seven Hora's? I'll look into this and get back to you soon.
