Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha! The following is an instructive dialogue between myself, and sisya Janardana dasa, that I wished to share with the Varahamihira list: > Hare Krsna Janardana dasa, > At 09:44 PM 12/25/00 +1300, you wrote: >Haribol, > >Thanks for your reply to my queries in the last email. You are welcome! >Is it any more difficult to predict events in the lives of devotees, >knowing that they might have changed their karma by chanting/ doing service >etc? The natal chart shows Prarabdha karma whilst the prasna chart can show >the current karma. How do you reconcile the two? While it is true that the natal chart shows Prarabdha karma, still the Prashna chart is dependent on Prarabdha karma also. This is why it is important to keep the natal chart and potentials in mind when doing a Prashna chart, as the Phala seen therein is dependent on the natal chart. For example, if in the natal chart, poverty or and austere life is shown, such would not be modified too much if great wealth were indicated in Prashna chart. With regard to devotee's lives, yes, the sting of inauspicious karmas shown in the chart, will be modified to a certain degree by his pious activities. This is guaranteed in the shastras, which state that simply by clapping one's hands (Bhaktivinode Thakura said this) in front of the temple Deities, millions of karmas will fly away like birds. So this has to be taken into account when studying devotees charts, yet it is impossible to know how, and to what extent, Krsna will grant His Mercy. For the most part, even in the charts of devotees, you will see the challenging dasas issue corresponding Phala (fruits of karmas), as well as in good dasas. In my case, for example, the Vimsottari dasa/bhukti of Mercury/Saturn was just fantastic for practising and teaching Jyotish, and acquiring much popularity and reputation for it, as they respectively rule the 9th and 5th houses of my chart, and are in strong sign/houses as well as varga locations. During the dasa of Ketu/Venus, on the other hand, I could not escape bad karmas coming forth (Ketu being with 6th lord Jupiter, and Venus, lagna lord being combust and weak), and thus I sustained serious bodily injury during that time and had to have surgery. So even though I had served reverentially for many years as Krsna bhakta, I still had to sustain the results of my dasa Phala. Perhaps it would have been way worse otherwise, but that's impossible to know with certainty. >I was thinking about jyotish and how it is almost perfect in the hands of >an experienced, knowledgable & spiritually inclined jyotish. Is it >reasonable to think that the science of jyotish is perfect but the >application of it depends on the jyotish? Absolutely. Its like a well-made car: How well it maneuvers and operates, depends largely on the skills of the driver. And so also it is with Jyotish, which requires many years of serious study and application, before one can become expert. Still, even the most advanced and expert Jyotishis will fail now and then, as the future in totality is known only to Bhagavan Sri Krsna. Fallible human beings can only know so much, according to their study and dedication. Even then, only Krsna gives knowledge to the heart and consciousness of a conditioned soul, as stated in the Gita: " matah smrtir jnanam apohanam ca " , or " from Me come remembrance, knowledge, and forgetfulness " . So that is why sadhana, and pure habits, and above all, compassion for all living beings, are the criteria by which the secrets of Jyotish, and its proper application, shall be reveled, and not otherwise. >I have chara atmakarka (sun) related to 11th/8th Lord (Budha) by >conjunction in Vrischika lagna. In your case, I observe that the AK (mars) has no link to the 11th >house except the Navamsa connection by aspect. Is the navamsa connection >equally valid? The 2nd is the house of learning, and so the 11th, being 10th from the 2nd, shows how learning can be applied occupationally. Also, the 11th is the 3rd from the 9th, the third being related to specific talents, and the 9th, higher or Sattvic knowledge. The 8th is the house of the metaphysical sciences, including Jyotish. Atmakaraka, of course, is related to the life mission and soul's path, and so being in mutual aspect/conjunction with the 11th or 8th houses or lord, can indicate an astrologer. Of course, that alone is not enough. See the strong relations (if they exist) between Jupiter and the 2nd, as well as trinal houses, in both rasi, and Navamsa, Dasamsa, and Siddhamsa (D-24) charts. Naturally, Jupiter in 10th or 11th in any of these charts, confirms the native as a practising astrologer. Look too for Rahu's influence on any of these houses/charts, as well as conjunctions of Ketu with either Mercury or Jupiter. Ketu conjunction with the Sun or Atmakaraka, can also indicate the mind of an astrologer. Rahu, however, should not be in conjunction of Jupiter or Mercury, but preferably should be alone and aspecting the above houses (unless, of course, Rahu is the AK). Ketu, preferably, should be with Mercury or Jupiter. Haribol, Patraka ===================================== Robert A. Koch, Vedic Astrologer 760 NW Broken Arrow Rd.
