It is the significator of reputation, status, career and those important people who help us in our career - the friend of the King - as I understand it. In Sloka 1.2.82, UDS, Jaimini says, " These results (religiosity) are also to be examined from the 6th from the Amatyakarak " and this is in the context of examining the chart for the Deity to be worshipped. In COVA, and I believe it is in Chapter XV on 12th house, Gurudev tells us that this is used to determine the Deity to be worshipped for material benefits, to remove obstacles in the material world re our work (6th house?). I have to admit that I have never used this principle to determine the Deity but I did learn it some years ago from another Jyotisha. I would welcome any comments here from Gurudev or fellow Jyotisha. When is this principle to be used vs 12th from Karakamsa? Also, is the 6th from AMK in the Rasi or Navamsa? Re BK, " during the period of the Bhratrikaraka the native has a good mantra from a Guru. " Hope this clarifies. Incidentally, I received my first initiation into meditation in Sun/Rahu. Sun is my AMK and Rahu is my BK. Rahu is in 3rd from AMK in Rasi and aspects lord of 6th from AMK. In Navamsa, Rahu is in 12th from Karakamsa lagna with Moon in Taurus and also 12th from AMK in Navamsa. It was mantra meditation with no Deity worship. In Moon/Rahu, both in 12th from Karakamsa, met my bhakti Guru and became a devotee of Radha Krishna. I specifically sought out a bhakti Guru (Moon in sign of Venus). Rahu being the BK in my chart brought me two very important initiations in this life. Now I'm in Rahu dasa and again I receive initiation from Gurudev. So the BK works in my case for mantras and initiations.
