JAYA JAGANNATHDear Gauranga,

Here is the Mantra.

Hare KrishnaSanjay Rath

Santana – Gopala Mantra. (Narada Rishi; Anustup Chanddah)

Devakisutam Govindam Vasudevam JagatpatimDehim-Tanayam Krishna-twa-maham Saranagatah.

Remarks: Meditate on Lord Krishna rising from the sea in a chariot with Arjuna and bringing a baby son (to us). It is best to start this mantra in a Holy place near the sea, preferably Puri as the mantra specifically refus to the Jagannath Rupa (form) with the word “Jagatpatim”. One lakh Japa followed by a proper pooja as described above gives an illustrious and dutiful son.

Is it " dehim " or should it rather be " dehi " ?

JAYA JAGANNATH

Dear Narasimha,

Yes please. It is in the sanskrit version that was also there in the mail.

Thanks for the correction. But the transliteration has to be checked by me.

This is proving to be as difficult as climbing Everest! Can you tell me why

do I take all this book writing so seriously? I have taken long leave from

office..2 months almost for this. that means low money, many troubles and

still I can't stop myself. Anyway, this is the only time when I am really

happy.

Hare Krishna

Sanjay Rath

P.S. Can you check some of the mantra and do the transliteration if I mail

this to you? Did you check that incident about sarat. I think it is a case

of Hypnotism. Sarat has the terrible Rahu in his Gemini Lagna and when the

incident occured, Rahu was afflicting its deadliest enemy Mercury.

Dear Sanjay,

I could not see it. I could see only the English text. I looked at the

archives on , but could not I see it there also. Did you try

to link it as a JPEG picture?

The HTML file (mail) you sent refers (links) to an image called " C:\My

Documents\Narayana\santangopal.jpg " . This link will work on *your* PC,

but it becomes a broken link when this HTML file arrives in my mailbox

or archives, because " C:\...\Narayana\...jpg " file doesn't

exist on my PC and PC. Why don't you add the actual file as an

attachment instead of putting a link to it in the HTML file?

You asked " can you tell me why do I take... " and a minute later you

answered it yourself! :-)

Sure. I will be glad to be of some help.

I hope you are giving mantras in Devanagari script also. Atleast those

who know Sanskrit/Hindi can read them correctly then. As far as

Americans with no knowledge of Devanagari script are concerned, there

are four solutions to convey mantras correctly to them:

(1) Clearly define and use a transliteration scheme (like ISKCON does),

using symbols (dots and lines) above and below letters.

(2) Define and use an intuitive transliteration (e.g. " a " and " aa " to

distinguish short and long " a " ; " i " , " ee " to distinguish short and long

" i " etc. Capital letters for unusual palatal/alveolar sounds. For

example, " maNi maalikaa " , " aham SaraNaagatah " , " kRshNa devo rakshatu " ).

(3) Just write as you have done. [This is misleading. For example, you

wrote " saranagatah " . How will one without Sanskrit knowledge know which

" a " is short and which is long? How will they know that " s " there is

the palatal sound (and not the normal s)? How will they know that " n "

there is the alveolar sound (and not the usual dental n)?]

(4) Include an audio CD of mantras or even better a CD-ROM giving all

the mantras in .wav format for playing back on a PC.

Another solution is to sell a book giving mantras only in Devanagari

script and in Roman transliteration and then put mantras as audio on

the web. In fact, I can record mantras and put them in realplayer or

wave formats on my homepage.

I will check after I get the complete birthdata.

Narasimha

I am resending it as an attachment. Please see if you get it. Else tell me

how to add it. Gauranga did you get this? Anyway, it is attached here.

Those of you who have not yet sent pictures to Dinanath, please send

them quickly.

Ohm gam ganapathayae namaha

gurubhyom namaha

gurudev,

The devanagari sloeka's transalation is:

devakee-sutam govindam vaasudevam jagat-patim

dehee-me-tanayam krishnam tvaam-aham saraNam-gata

Should it be dehi/dehee?

Should it be tvaam/tvam? (possibly tvaam , tvam just means you, but I

was not sure).

Should it be saraNamgata/saraNaagataha/saraNaagata?

I guess it should be SaraNa+aagataha, aagataha means one who has come.

Please help me understand the meaning correctly.

Sanjayji, there is an excallant software for indian languagesfrom CDAC,
