I am not at all sure. I don't have enough philosphical understanding of the Saturn exception to draw a judgment on when it does not apply. I was only saying that one can make JH do what one prefers, because I made it very flexible. > 2. My understanding was that Saturn/Ketu exception only > changes the direction, and not the > succession. But for this calculation the direction remains > and the succession changes. As per my understanding, Ketu exception reverses the progression, but Saturn exception does two things: (1) it reverses the direction and (2) it changes the progression to Brahma's progression. Saturn represents Brahma. Moreover, Saturn is slow (Manda) and likes the natural and slow way of going rasi by rasi. If dasas start from Le, dasa progression is Shiva's (every 6th) and dasas go as Le, Cp, Ge, Sc etc. If Saturn exception applies, they become, Le, Vi, Li, Sc etc. If Ketu exception applies, they become Le, Pi, Li, Ta etc. However, Brahma's progression is illegal in some dasas (e.g. Sudasa). In such dasas, Saturn exception only changes the direction to forward (zodiacal) and does not change the progression to Brahma's progression. If SL is in Ta, then Sudasa goes as Ta, Aq, Sc, Le, Ar, Cp etc. Ketu exception changes it to Ta, Le, Sc, Aq, Ge, Vi etc. Saturn's exception also changes it to the same. Summary: Saturn's exception changes the direction to forward (zodiacal). In addition, it changes the progression to a regular Brahma progression (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc) provided that is a legal progression. Ketu does not change Vishnu and Shiva into Brahma. He does not change the progression. He only reverses the direction. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha
