Dear Narasimha,

This is where Jupiter differs with Mercury. There are many things in this world where sanity check is not going to yeild any results. In fact, a very major part of humanity is scheizophrenic to some extent or the other. For example, the first Alphabet in English is "A" and that in Sanskrit is also "A". This is the same in so many languages that have so many different origins. I wonder if English was a spoken language at the Vedic Civilisation, and if so, whether Maharishi's had knowledge of the same, yet they have taught that "A" is always the Brahmakshara from where all other alphabets evolved. This is also the Brahma Beeja of protection. During the Gupta period, it is unlikely that a poor Pundit sitting in the village in Puri would have access to the outer civilisation and its culture/ language. So, if the Guru taught that "A" is the Brahma-Akshara, he could either question the sanity for such such a point or could accept it and follow it and get to the truth ultimately. He would have the option to keep doubting and looking for the truth or to have faith and take it and keep using the knowledge unless proved to the contrary. I hope I have been understood.

In the example you have cited, it is not a "Correct Prasna". The Questioner maybe genuine, but his method of making the prasna is not correct and the very fact that he would be looking at the class instead of "A PARTICULAR PERSON" while posing the question shows that the question was made erroneously or as a general defiance or challenge to the class or to the teacher or the subject as such. Such a question does not qualify for being answered. Even if the questioner was very humble, and most genuine in asking the question, even then such a question SHOULD NOT BE ANSWERED as the flaw in asking only shows that SRI JAGANNATH DOES NOT WANT TO ANSWER HIM.

This rule should also be strictly followed in answering the queries of the students as the student who does not make a humble request for knowledge is under the influence of Guna's other than Sattwa and this can make the learning warped. Honestly, I have not been following this strictly as it is impossible to always expect the most satwik behaviour from all in this Kali Yuga...NOT EXCLUDING MYSELF IN THIS. The mantra helps us to become more qualified for the knowledge. So, say HARE RAMA KRISHNA.

Pranaam Sanjay, OM KRISHNA GURU OM Dear Narasimha, Jagannatha Swami Nayana Pathagami Bhava Tu Me.

Let us try to use our intelligence to find the answer to that. The classics also teach that a Prasna that is not genuine should not be answered. Now, what is a genuine Prasna? It is the time when a querist were to make the prasna to a qualified Jyotish. Thus, the querist is writing or saying something with a specific Jyotish in mind. If this is not so, then the Prasna is not considered correctly made. There maybe others also sitting in the room when the prasna was made, yet the time when the specific Jyotish takes it up will be the correct time. Om Tat Sat Best Wishes Sanjay RathBecause my father and classics taught that way, I did accept it. But it is not necessarily a bad thing to use the intelligence. Faith in Guru is a good thing, but doing a sanity check on what one is taught and asking questions when something doesn't make sense can only help in furthering or consolidating the knowledge. Are you saying that a prasna posed to several astrologers is not genuine? If someone with great faith in you and your students walks in to an SJVC class at the end of the class and poses a prasna to the class collectively (addressing the whole class), is not a genuine prasna?? I am not challenging what elders teach. I am only asking a question that troubles me, so that the knowledge can be consolidated. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha

HARI OM TAT SATJaya Jagannatha Mahaprabhu
