Guest guest
Pranaam Sanjay, Asura yoga is not given in Dr. Raman's yogas book. I could not locate where I saw the requirement that both Jupiter and Venus must be in 8th for Asura yoga. I will try to find it. It may be wrong though. What you say about Jupiter and Venus makes sense, but how can we apply such general logic verbatim in every case? Phala Deepika clubs Asura yoga with a group of 12 yogas and says " if benefics occupy or aspect 8th and 8th lord is in a quadrant or trine in own/exaltation sign, then Asura yoga results " . If you can remember where you found the definition of Asura yoga as just Jupiter being in 8th, please tell me. It seems too simplistic and general to me to apply such a significant result blindly. In an old varahamihira mail (mail # 373), you wrote about Jupiter in various houses. About the 8th, you wrote: " Asura Yoga could resultif the 8th is not a fixed sign " Why did you say " not a fixed sign " ? What is the logic behind this? In Srila Prabhupapda's Makara lagna chart, 8th Leo is a fixed sign. Will Jupiter in 8th give Asura yoga still? It seems to contradict the statement above. In mail #33 of varahamihira, you said: " THE SURA ARE THE LIFE SUSTAINING SIGNS WHILE THE ASURA ARE THE LIFE DESTROYING SIGNS. AGNI (ENERGY) AND JALA (WATER) ARE THE MAIN CONSTITUENTS OF THE LIFE FORCE. THIS IS SYMBOLISED BY JUPITER CALLED JEEVA. ASURA YOGA OCCURS WHEN ANY PERSON OR BEING CAUSES THE DESTRUCTION OF LIFE. THUS DEATH ITSELF IS AN ASURA. " The idea seems to be that Jupiter (jeeva or life force) is weakened in the 8th house and the lack of life force is what makes an asura. Despite being in 8th, won't being in an agni rasi (Leo) with Sun replenish the life force (Jupiter)? Why is then Asura yoga in Srila Prabhupada's Makara lagna chart such a big issue?
