1. According to Saravali it is Rahu who makes one selfish. Sun on the

other hand i have seen gives more pride than selfishness. As a result i

do not attribute selfishness to the Sun.

 

2. Not at all, we cannot say that. The character comes from the Lagna.

 

3. Lets put this into practical family terms. Sun rules that age where

the fathers sole and real responsibility is to support the family and

prepare for a suitable retirement. During this time he has only one

concerne and that is to be able to give to his family as much as

possible. For that reason he considers himself the most important as

there is only that one source of sustenance in the family. So the Sun

is a great giver, and seeks to be the best one - i.e. the king.

Saturns age is one which is past the Sun and symbolizes the time after

retirement when you have no more energy left, no more sustenance to

give and are barely pulling your own weight in the family setting. You

have become a burden upon others because you cannot handle yourself

properly. And then you see all your friends, relatives, etc. all

leaving this earth and you find yourself to be the last among many.

 

This is the main diffference in the two types of Graha. If you use the

'family' analogy you cannot go wrong with understanding the grahas.

 

4. This is not a well thought out question. Of course not all marriages

end due to ego problems. People have all sorts of good excuses to end

marriages these days. Yes, you are born so you have ego, this is called

ahamkara, but this is not the same as being selfish. Instead it means

you have a self-identity.
