Can you comment on this, please? What > actually means this " rising with head or feet " , how can I understand this > and not only remember it blindly. From Phala Dipika (1.8): Pristhodaya signs (rising with their backs) are Taurus, Cancer, Aries, Sagittarius and Capricorn. Ubhayodaya (rising with both backs and heads) are Gemini and Pisces, The rest are Sirshodaya (rising with their heads). You may try to learn them as follows: Earth signs except Virgo are Pristhodaya. Virgo is a virgin in a boat, so she can't rise with her back. Fiery signs except Leo are also Pristhodaya, as the lion's most significant part is his head. Watery signs have Pisces (two fish situated as opposite) which is hence Ubhayodaya, Cancer which tends to go backwards and Scorpio which has his sting above his head, so he will also be Shirshodaya. Mithuna also has a male and a female situated opposite, so it's again Ubhayodaya. Indeed, Parasara tells Mithuna to be Shirshodaya, but other authors take it as Ubhayodaya. Usually Pristhodaya signs plus Gemini are taken as night signs, and the Shirshodaya signs plus Pisces are taken as day signs. Therefore it seems more logical for me to take Gemini as Ubhayodaya, because in this way we have 5 shirshodaya, 5 Pristhodaya and 2 Ubhayodaya signs, which is equal. > Do you have birth data of Dalai lama, I have it but I'm not sure that it is > right. Other things may also modify it. Please send me the data for Dalai Lama. I'm interested to have them. If anybody on the list may confirm their accuracy, I would be happy.
