Dear Dina-nath Prabhu,

Small difference in the end. The pot is not broken, but set afloat on

the Ganges/Yamuna as a mark of respect for the Lord. Thus, symbolically, the

first marriage has occured and it is also broken. All marriage dosha ends

here due to the blessings of Vishnu. As per shastra if the marriage breaks

within the year, then re-marriage within the same year is advised. Hence,

the girl is married off within the same year.

When I mentioned about this remedy called Kumbha Vivaha, some people had

laughed, but then it works. It always works and marriages are stable in most

parts of India where these remedies are done before the marriage.

Best Regards,

Sanjay Rath

> Yes, there is. The ritual is used as a remedial measure if in a horoscope

of

> a lady there is indication of breakage of marriage. Brahmanas install Lord

> Vishnu in a water pot and then the marriage ceremony takes place after

which

> concerned lady is married to Lord Vishnu. This ritual is still performed

in

> some of the Hanuman temples in India.

> As far as I remember after the marriage ritual the pot is broken (I may be

> wrong because I cannot remember exactly) and than the marriage is

finished.

> After that we should look at the chart of a concerned person and see what

> second marriage will bring.
