Namaskar,

 

The following software (Celestia & Stellarium) may be of use to

students of jyotisha. Both projects are open source project hosted at

Sourceforge.net. I certainly found them very useful in visualising the

geocentric and heliocentric movement of planets in realtime over the

backdrop of various stars.

 

 

* Celestia

The free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three

dimensions. Celestia comes with a large catalog of stars, galaxies,

planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecraft.

* Stellarium

Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It

shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked

eye, binoculars or a telescope.
