Guest guest
Learned members, Please do educate me on a subject. For long I had a perception that the name " Shiva " does not fashion in the Vedas. Now, I am pretty sure that it doesnot fashion in Rig Veda because I did not find the name mentioned there unless I have skipped any reference. Ofcourse Rudra features 5 verses in all the 10 books of Rig Veda. However, unfortunately, I did not get an opportunity to see the Sanskrit version of the Yajur Veda. But I read recently that Shiva fashions many times there. Rudram, Chamakam, Pachakshari Matra, Maha Mritunjaya mantra are all extracts from Taittiriya Sanhita. Can anyone confirm this please. Also, I have another query: Could someone please explain the following verse to me. & #2327; & #2366; & #2341; & #2346; & #2340; & #2367; & #2306; & #2350; & #2375; & #2343; & #2346; & #2340; & #2367; & #2306; & #2352; & #2369; & #2342; & #2381; & #2352; & #2306; & #2332; & #2354; & #2366; & #2359; & #2349; & #2375; & #2359; & #2332; & #2350; & #2340; & #2330; & #2381; & #2331; & #2306; & #2351; & #2379; & #2307; & #2360; & #2369; & #2350; & #2381; & #2344; & #2350; & #2368; & #2350; & #2361; & #2375; & #2351; & #2307; & #2358; & #2369; & #2325; & #2381; & #2352; & #2311; & #2357; & #2360; & #2370; & #2352; & #2381; & #2351; & #2379; & #2361; & #2367; & #2352; & #2339; & #2381; & #2351; & #2350; & #2367; & #2357; & #2352; & #2379; & #2330; & #2340; & #2375; & #2358; & #2352; & #2375; & #2359; & #2381; & #2336; & #2379; & #2342; & #2375; & #2357; & #2366; & #2344; & #2366; & #2306; & #2357; & #2360; & #2369; & #2307; The english interpretation which is given is: He shines in splendour like the Sun, refulgent as bright gold is he, The good, the best among the Gods. However, I guess the word " Shukra " feautres here, which could mean that " He who shines like Venus and the Sun " ? Regards, Souvik
