Dear Gauranga, Sanjay and others,

my obeisance's.

Here is my attempt of doing assignments on lesson 5. Any comments or correction are helpful, please.

1) What is the meaning of word Rajayoga? Explain with examples.

Raja means king; so, Raja yoga means "royal combinations". It brings prosperity, ability to rise in social position, general happiness. For example; if someone has some sort of intellectual ability and he grown up in environment which understand and endorse his talents he can develop his characteristics to full extent and become an elevated personality. In contrary, if someone has capability but don't have auspicious environment which help him in developing his good features he will not rise to the extent that his capacity allows. Raja yoga gives connection between this two objects; ability of person and environment (or we can say results from past good or pious deeds). Person who poses Raja yoga in chart can develop his abilities to the full extent.

2) What is the meaning of Pravrajayoga? Do illustrate.

Pravraja yoga is opposite of Raja yoga. He will not give rise in the material life but, in contrary, rise in spirituality. If we get some gain in spirituality this does not mean that this gain is also gain from materialistic point of wiev.

3) Would you consider your own horoscope one of Raja yoga or Pravraja yoga, or is there too much confusion?

My birth datas; 28.7.1969, 21:20, 13E52, 44N51, time zone 1 (Aquarius lagna on 27ÿ20' and Moon on 8ÿ18 Capricorn).

In my chart there is no Vipareta raja yoga because there is no conjunction of the lords of dushtana. But, there is some interesting thing; the lords of dushtana (Moon, lord of 6th house and Mercury, lord of 8th house) mutually aspects each other (they are placed; Moon in 12th house Capricorn and mercury in the 6th house, Cancer - house of Moon). There is no mention of mutual aspect in the lesson and I cannot consider it Vipareta Raja Yoga. But there is connection anyway between these two planets ( who are the lords of the dushtana), so, maybe there can be some impact??? How can we judge this situation of mutual aspects??? Can someone help and clarify the doubt?

In the 6th house from Arudha lagna there is Jupiter and Ketu; conclusion is both materialistic and spiritual tendencies (benefic Jupiter gives spiritual interest and malefic Ketu gives materialistic interest). Interesting is that everything happens in the 8th house, house of occult knowledge, death and transformation and that Ketu is also present. Ketu can give insight in some secret knowledge and interest in spirituality and related maters. Anyone would like to comment this??? Oops, I almost forget; in the 3rd house from AL is Venus in Gemini. So, this can bring spirituality and belief in ahimsa etc. Venus dashas and sub dashas may be favorable for developing spiritual tendencies.

4) Case study: Male born 4th September 1969 at 1:52:37 AM IST at Delhi, India.

What happened to the native in his 5th year of age and how was Rahu dasa for him? Is there Vipareta Raja Yoga in this chart?

There is Vipareta RajaYoga in this chart; in the 3rd house from AL is Mars and in the 6th house from AL is Rahu. So, malefics are placed both in 3rd and 6th house from AL. According to lesson native will have material interest and material success in the times of dashas of Mars and Rahu. In his 5th year he undergone Mars dasha / Rahu antardasha. Mars is in the 6th house from lagna in his own sign Scorpio; this gives great determination and courage in conquering over the obstacles, enemies etc, and maybe some danger of injuries, wounds, burns or something else. Rahu is in the 9th house of dharma in Aquarius, also his own sign. These planets are in very good position, in his owns signs and I suppose that they will act as givers of material gain, success and prosperity. This can happen due to death or fall of partner or someone else (maybe father). It seems to me that in the 5th year of age person has undergone some changes that are probably karmic influences from past lives. This changes can be connected with religiosity or father (or spiritual father or Guru) and there were some possibility of above mentioned dangers form severe injuries or something similar. It seems that person get some material benefit from this situation.

Rahu dasha (1979-1997) was very successful (materially) for him. He can rise on very high position and acquire a great amount of wealth and fortune. According to the meaning of Vipareta Raja Yoga

in this period person benefited greatly.

5) Male born 5th January 1934 at 10:17 AM IST at Allahabad India. Is there VRY in this chart? If so, when and how shall it function. If not, why not? He became a Cabinet Minister with the advent of Jupiter dasha. How did Jupiter in the 8th house give such excellent results?

We can see Vipareta Raja Yoga in this chart; lords of the dushtana houses Mars (lord of the 3rd house) and Saturn (lord of the 12th house) conjoin in the 12th house. Mars is in the sign of exaltation and Saturn is in his own sign (Capricorn). They are strong by position. In the lesson it is said that planets involved in the yoga must be weak. So, yoga will not have his full influence, or he may not have influence at all. But because Venus is also present who is debilitated in Navamsha yoga can occur but in lesser degree and function for short time. Because the planets which forming yoga are positioned in the 12th house (dushtana) the yoga will occur due to the death of enemy and person will profited materially on account of that. In this yoga Mars (which is also yogada) is involved and I suppose that person will quickly rise in career during the time of Mars dasha (from 1972 to 1979). Why Jupiter give such an excellent result during his dasha? Jupiter is lord of 11th and 2nd house, both houses of material gains and riches. He is also vargottama (in the same sign /Virgo/ in Navamsha). There is Parivartana yoga between Jupiter (who is placed in Virgo) and Mercury (in Sagittarius, 11 house). In the 11th house is also Sun who is in very good position here giving authority and opportunity for employment in big institutions, organizations, government etc. Sun is also ruler of the 7th house of partnership. Jupiter and Sun & Mercury aspects each other throughout rashi aspect.

6) Female born on 23 January 1950, 6:15 AM IST 77E26, 28N40 Ghaziabad, India. Is there Vipareta raja yoga in this chart? Is widowhood indicated? If so, then at what age can it be expected and how would her spouse pass away? Hint: her husband was a top politician in India.

Well, if Rahu is ruler of Aquarius (3rd house, dushtana) then in this chart we can find VRY because Rahu conjoins with Moon ruler of 8th house. They are in kendra or quadrant house (4th house) and they both transfer the power to atmakaraka Mercury in 1st house by rashi aspect. Both Rahu and Moon are Yogada (acpecting lagna and HL). So, there is VRY and it will be functioning in the periods of Moon and Rahu.

Widowhood? Jupiter, ruler of lagna, is debilitated in 2nd house and combusted in association with Sun. There is no nicha banga yoga. Mars is in 10th house in low dignity and in close conjunction with Ketu. They are both ruler of Scorpio, 12th house. In Navamsha Mars ( he is ruler of 2nd and 7th houses, maraka houses) is in the 8th house of death. Guru is in the 9th house associated with Ketu. So, Mars can signifies husband and he is afflicted in both Rashi and Navamsha; Ketu is associated with Mars in Rashi and in Ketu dasha (beginning in 1983, at her 33 year age) she can become widow. I think that also Mercury and Venus periods should be considered. They are both retrograde and Mars in Rashi is in Virgo and Mercury in Navamsha is aspecting Jupiter in Gemini. Venus is in conjunction with Jupiter in Rashi and he (or she?) is dispositor of Mars in Navamsha.

7) Case study: Male born: 19. December 1954 at 00:20 AM at Delhi, India. Is there VRY? What happened with the advent of Saturn dasha.

There is VRY; Rahu, lord of Aquarius /6th house/ is in conjunction with Sun, lord of 12th house. They are in kendra but they do not transfer power to the lagna lord and atmakaraka Mercury.

Rahu is also debilitated. The lord of 4th house where conjunction is happening is Jupiter who is exalted and retrograde in 11th house and he is Yogada also. Exalted Saturn from 2nd house aspects this house by Graha aspect. In the 6th house from AL is Ketu. So, if we look at all this details its look like VRY will function but in lesser degree (because of weakens of planets involved), the aspect and rulership of exalted planets anyway give some opportunities. Native will have material success, gain etc in period of Ketu (Ketu in 6th from AL).

What happened with the advent of Saturn dasha? Saturn is exalted in the 2nd house conjoined with Venus which is in his sign of multrikona. Placement and strength of Saturn is very good. It looks like that 1997 (beginning of Saturn dasha) brings some material gains, some events with partners and partnership... Most probably it was marriage or some happening with partners.
