Guest guest
Jaya Jagannath Dear Brendan, I have sent this to the Varahamihira list for the benefit of all Jyotisha. My discussions are based on the deep faith that the ancients were very advanced in mathematics and that they were very precise and exact in the rules the made. Look at the rules for the reckoning of Indu Lagna. First, we check for the Lords of the 9th houses from Lagna and the Moon and then we pick up their Kala's (or points) from a set of numbers. The total of their Kala's is divided by 12 to determine the sign housing the Indu Lagna. Now, look at the kala's for Sun & Moon. These are 30 and 16 respectively. When we are finally going to divide the number (Sum) by 12 and take the remainder alone, then why should the numbers be given as 30 and 16 and not as 6 and 4 for the Sun and Moon? Did Kalidasa miss something or is this a corruption of the text with time? I don't know, but one thing is for sure, that this does not have a sound mathematical basis. However, there is the option of multiplying these figures, which maybe more sound as a mathematical paradigm. Instead, use Hora Lagna for wealth and its movement from the su Dasa. You will be very near the final truth about wealth and its increase or decrease.
