Shri Brahmadaru Smarami

Dear Ramapriya,

Just bumped across the meaning of nakshatra in the Shamba Purana. Nakshatras are those bodies which never erode, that which do not have 'kshaya'.

Na (no, does not)+ Kshi (this is from the word ksha meaning destruction) + Atra (here, in this respect or matter): That which does not get destroyed or eroded - nakshatra.

Na + Kshi+ Atra + K

This is how the grammar is written.

Best Regards,

Sarbani

Dear Sarbani,

Thank you so much, although the other puranic whizgirl got there first with this, having mailed me nearly a week ago

J

Noticed how a benign Q brought forth such erudition? Classy!

Respects,

Ramapriya
