II Om Datta Guru II Dear Lakshmiji, According to the Kalachakra a Sunday of Chaturdasi is a good day to start Shiva Linga worship. In my experience usually on other Hindu festivals I'm eating, dancing, and celebrating! Whereas on Mahashivarati it's totally different because I am fasting. On this day you can fast, chant, do prayers at home, if not go to temple, have a Rudraabishekam done, and give offerings there. In addition to the above things, I stay awake the entire night at the temple and fast for more than 24 hours on nothing. I am telling you this because what I feel at night in the Temple is amazing! There is so much faith and love there! It's Beautiful to see so many people fasting and staying awake for God. By morning after fasting for so long I feel blessed for everything I have in my

life and I feel to help others who don't have such things. That is the difference of this day for me as compared to other Hindu festivals that I celebrate. If you have affinity towards Shiva in a peticular form it is perferctly fine to chant those names or prayers eg. Lord Rama. You can even take a stone and worship Lord Shiva and he would be pleased, because the only thing he is looking for is love, devotion, and above all a pure heart. Have a Happy MahaShivaratri Lakshmiji! Best Wishes, Shrutilakshmikary <lakshmikary wrote: Hare KrishnaDear ALL,Is this time considered a very auspicious time to start worship of a Shiva lingam? Other than

fasting and chanting, what else do people usually do?What FORM of Lord Shiva is taken for worship on this day,I mean if one has a affintity for Lord SHiva in a peticulair form, is it ok, to chant those names, prayers?thanks,Lakshmisohamsa , "shrupata" <shrupata wrote:>> II Om Datta Guru II> > Dear Members,> > I'm taking us slightly off of Jyotish for one moment because > today is MahaShivaratri (Feb 26), Lord Shiva's favorite day of the > entire year.
