Guest guest
Dear Sanjay, Pranaam! I am including jyotish-list in the recipient list, as I want to close the episode with this mail. > Jaya Jagannath > Dear Narasimha, > Who is this person who has been so indecent to post rubbish to the list? > Anyway, it will be a good exercise to examine the satrupada A6 for this and > the transit of the Moon in the 12th from A6 or aspecting the 12th from it. I > cannot think of anything other than a malicious intent which should be based > on Money since the Jagannatha Hora Lite is Free. I fail to understand as to > why he could not write to you instead. Tapani first wrote to me complaining that lagna was off by a sign for Helsinki. I said it's weird and asked for the data he used. Then he forwarded it to all the 200 members of vedic astrology list. Finally it turns out that he entered data incorrectly! Then he found PL giving different results at different times (I wonder if his observation is erroneous again). He found a few files in PL directory listed as JHLite files. That is not a problem at all. JHLite doesn't modify those files. PL will still be able to read them. There is no chance of any error in PL behavior because of this. It just so happened that no program registered *.dat files and JHLite did. This will not impact the behavior of other programs that have their own *.dat files in specific directories. But he thought that it was a virus and that it caused PL to misbehave. All this may be a genuine misunderstanding and a misjudgment on his part and not necessarily mischievous. But I wasn't pleased that he chose to announce " NR (Narasimha Rao) Virus " on 2 lists without talking to me. It is very very hasty (esp considering the co-operation I and other vedic astrology members extended to him earlier with his problems due to wrong data entry by him). Before I put this behind, TWO IMPORTANT NOTES FOR JHLITE USERS: (1) There is NO " virus " in JHLite. If you see problems in PL, my program is NOT responsible for it. Dr. Jai Maharaj has already informed the lists that he has all the programs installed and there is no mutual interference. (2) If you find problems with JHLite, please feel free to bring them to my attention, preferably by personal mail. Feel absolutely free. For example, I greatly appreciate feedback like the one given by Pursottam. In fact, when an important bug in 1.0 was brought to my attention by Sanjay, I fixed it and put 1.1 on the web within half an hour of reading the mail. I described the bug on the release page. It is not my intention to hide and shy away from problems. > It has become very popular among the students at SJVC and also in the I am glad to know that! > offices in Delhi as it gives so many basic things like Arudha and Varnada Reading the above, someone may wonder why they can't see Varnada lagna and varnadas with their JHLite and this may become the next topic! The answer is: they are not a feature of Lite version. They were among the ones I dropped. Sanjay forgot it when he wrote " Varnada " above. If you read Das's mail, he correctly observed: " It may seem like good heartedness to post intellectual property for free, but it hurts those who created the space in the first place, and have their lives setup around developing things- and working under the normal constraints of needing to make a living off of one's work " . Had I given everything I originally planned, it might not have been nice to those people. So I was advised by elders to drop some features from the free version. Varnadas were one such feature. > which none of the other software have. My intention in advising these > features was that the others also add them to their software and this should > induce a healthy competition in a Free market economy. I believe in this > freedom which is essential for human development. > Please do not feel discouraged by this action of a person who like I will try not to be. > Sanidev is destined to have a stunted growth. Such people are a bane on > Jyotish itself and only cause disturbances by their irrational behaviour. > Your 12th Lord is the Sun and your first few public donation has been very > magnanimous like the Sun God...free of cost. RDD software is a real blessing > for Jyotish and now this Jagannath Hora Lite is fantastic. Thank you. > In the past, I have examined umpteem programs for horoscopes and have > found many flaws in them, but instead of writing to lists and trying to > humiliate the good programmer who has found time to work for a Divine cause, > I have written to them personally and tried to speak my mind. It is my request to all astrologers that we > are very few in numbers and the minimum we can do is to encourage the other > jyotish who is also struggling for knowing the Divine truth. That's true. > Om Tat Sat > Blessings of Sri Jagannath > Sanjay Rath > P.S. I have examined the Jagannath Hora (Trial Version) and can only admire > its superior calculations and performance. There is no doubt that it is Thank you. Again to avoid confusion and further mails: Sanjay is talking about a version that is not on the web. > simply fantastic. I think you need to add a few features like sub periods > upto the sixth level using the actual solar motion instead of just dividing > by 120 as is being done in other software. I know that there is a lot more to do. What you said is on the agenda (i.e. providing RDD-like division of all dasas upto 6th level). Some theory for the benefit of others here: When dasas are divided upto 6th level (or higher), most programs divide time linearly. However, tradition teaches that time is measured in terms of the motion of Sun and Moon. If you use solar years, 1 year = a period in which Sun moves by 360 degrees. Divide time linearly in the space of Sun's longitude and not interms of days, hours, minutes etc. If a period lasts 1 year and if the first sub-period is 7/120 of it, then take the period in which Sun moves by (7/120)x360 = 21 degrees. If a sub-sub-period is 16/120 of that sub-period, Sun must move in that period by (16/120)x21 deg = (2/15)x21x60 arc-min = 168 arc-min = 2 deg 48 arc-min. We should divide time in the space of Sun's longitude. Without doing that, there is absolutely no point in going to fine levels in dasas. I have a free software ( " Rasi Dasa Division " - see my homepage) that *aids* you in doing the above division for rasi dasas (Jaimini dasas). But it has to be integrated into " Jagannatha Hora " for proper division of nakshatra dasas and rasi dasas. When completed, this will open doors for very fine research and also may enable us to resolve many controversies. In ancient India, astrologers directly rectified Moon's longitude based on past events and associated prana and deha-antardasas and made daily predictions with rectified longitude!! They used division of time in the space of longitudes. People from traditional families, I am sure, will welcome this! > The Narayan dasa etc. is just > marvellous. This software is going to make a big dent in the Jyotish world > and Jagannath Mahaprabhu is right behind you. (I hope you are aware of the > manifestation of Sri Krishna for the Sakshi Gopal Temple). Also do recite I am not. Can you enlighten me? > the Shadakshara mantra of the parampara. I will.
