Guest guest
Quoting from chapter 39, sloka 48 of BPHS: " If all benefics are relegated to Kendras. while malefics are in 3,6 and 11 house, the native, though maybe of mean descent, will ascend the throne. " Now, as Mercury and Moon are benefics only under certain conditions then how is the yoga going to be formed when they are not benefics in a chart? Another question, how can Rahu and Ketu both the malefics be in upachaya houses at the same time? So is Rahu and Ketu to be considered for the yoga? Would be glad if someone can help me understand this yoga.
Guest guest
हरे राम कृष्ण Dear Basab, Namaskar. Here is the ITRANS for the sloka: kendresthitaiH shubhaiH sarvaiH pApaishcha trishhaDAyagaiH | hInavaMsho.api yo jAtaH sa rAjA bhavati dhruvam.h || 48|| The words Papa and Krura are not interchangeable. Moon does become Krura when devoid of light, as does Mercury when associated with Malefics, but Papa means they wanto inflict evil upon others. This cannot be said of Moon, whilst Mercury doesn't become innocent in the company of other malefics. So Moon should be out of this equation for the yoga to be 'spotless'. The mention of malefics in trishadaya's says nothing about ALL the malefics being there as the word 'sarva' has been attributed to the benefics, i.e. ALL benefics should be in Kendra or all Kendras should be occupied by benefics. This doesn't mean malefics cannot occupy houses other than the trishadaya. Further, the word 'mean' may not be the most accurate translation of 'hiina' as 'mean' can also mean evil decent. Instead this refers to one coming from a poor or destitute family which wasn't meant to earn great raja yoga, but did so afterall due to the blessings of the yoga. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Dear Visti Larsen, Namaskar! Firstly thank you so much for answering my question. You have explained the yoga very elaborately which was of great help to me. According to the Girish Chandra Sharma translation of the BPHS all malefics should be in trishadaya houses with all benefics in kendra houses for the raja yoga to form. Do you think that's a wrong interpretation of the yoga? You have mentioned that the Moon should not be considered a benefic for this yoga what is the logic behind it? This is the biggest confusion I am facing when reading the yogas in BPHS, it's because I am finding it difficult to understand for which yogas the Moon can be considered a benefic and for which it can't? Parashar says in the very beginning that the waxing Moon is a benefic so why shouldn't it be considered for this yoga? I have a similar confusion about Rahu-Ketu, I have read that they should not be considered malefics for the yogas, now what is the logic behind that, it's because Parashar as clearly mentioned that they are natural malefics in the very beginning of the BPHS. Thanks once again for explaining the raja yoga. Regards Basab ______________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals?
