Guest guest
JAYA JAGANNATHA! Dear Frank, Namaste. > Om Sri Ram Jai Jai Ram Om > Namaste > > Can someone resolve this question for me... > > Situation > 1. The Atmakaraka represents Ista Devata...it is calculated by observing the > Graha with the highest degree( Longitude). I have not read anywhere that the Atmakaraka represents the Ishta Devata. He will show the way to the Ishta devata, but the Ishta devata is represented by the 12th from Karakamsha (Navamsha of Atmakaraka) > 2. As I understand it, another way to calculate the Ista Devata is to > examine the 9th and 12th houses from the Karakamsa ( sign occupied by the > Atmakaraka). THe 9th house rules Dharma or is Dharma Devata. The 12th from > Karakamsa is the Ista Devata. > > Inquiry > How can there be 2 Ista Devata's? ... one calculated from the Graha with the > highest longitude and another calculated from > the Atma Karaka's position in the Karakamsa to the 12th house? No. There is one reference place for Ishta Devata (the goal of one's spiritual life). This is indicated by the 12th from karakamsha, as Atmakaraka will show the way towards him, Navamsha is the divisional chart for dharma, so we see the AK in Navamsha. The 12th house is Moskatrikona. So we attain our Ista when we are liberated. And the 9th from karakamsha will indicate the Dharma Devata, who is the Deity helping in the spiritual advancement of the native in this life. So he may not be the ultimate goal, but his worhsip will lead the person along the way towards the Ishta. And the Kula Devata is the family Deity, or the Deity worhsipped by the family and ancestors. It is seen from the 2nd in D-20. If any of these houses are influenced by more than one planet, then the srongest should be considered, although the other planets present will also be felt during the life. Also speicific combinations here may indicate specific Deities. Let's see your chart. Your Atmakaraka is Mercury. He is in Pisces navamsha with ketu, which is highly favourable for spirituality and Moksha. Atmakaraka in Pisces Rasi or Navamsha indicates Moksha. The 12th from it is Aquarius, ocuppied by Mars and aspected by the Sun. I would say that your Ishta-devata is Lord Siva (Rudra). I think that the best way for you is to worship a Siva-limgam in the Yoni-peetha symbolising Durga or Parvati, as Aquarius will indicated different form s of Shakti Ma. Of course the Sun is in Cancer, so to worship Siva as vaishnavaanam yathaa (a devotee of Krishna) will be the most beneficial. This si also strengthened by the significations of the 9th from Karakamsha, where Jupiter is positioned in Scorpio. Jaimini attaches Siva to Jupiter, but also Vishnu is taken often times. So he will be your Dharma Devata for this life. Therefore I recommend worhsipping both Vishnu and Shiva, as in most holy places in India is done. For Kula Devata the 2nd in D-20 is Gemini, containig Saturn. Of course in western families often times the parents are not religious, but then we could shift ti to the community one belongs to. Again Mercury and Saturn indicate Vishnu as Kula Devata. Sanjayji says that the strongest ifluencing planet will determine the Ishta. So if you have Venus there, that would indeed indicate Radha or Lakshmi. The other ifluences, should also be considered, as they will indicate other Deities that will influence your life. We could take Saturn as indicating Vishnu in this case I suppose. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannath, Dear Mayapura Prabhu, Maharshi Jaimini uses the term " SAMBASIVA " for Jupiter and this is a direct reference to GOD AS THE TEACHER. This can indicate SHIVA in the SAMBHU form. In fact this indicates EVERY DEITY in the BRIHASPATI or Universal form. I give you a list of such forms depending on the planetary influence coming on Jupiter. Now, Parasara is also teaching in the same lines that Jupiter takes you to Indra (and Indra means your ISTA DEVATA). Other texts also refer to Jupiter taking you to the Dharma and Ista Devata as Jupiter rules the 12th (Ista) and 9th (Dharma) of the natural Zodiac. Sun: A strong Sun influencing such a Jupiter can indicate Sambhu or Dakshinamoorty(Ista form), Vishwanatha (Dharma form). Sri Rama is the Naisargika Dharma Roopa of Bhagawan also called Satya Narayana (Sadhu Roopa Bhagawan i.e. the only form in which Bhagawan wore the dress of a Sadhu/renunciate). Moon: A strong influence of the Moon gives undying fame just like the association of Krishna and Arjuna. The deity is Jagannath. In this manner you should think...Mars (Balaram/Narasimhadeva), Mercury (Sri Achyuta/Buddhadeva), Jupiter (Dattatreya/Sri Vamana/Guru's/Narada Muni/Rishi), Venus (Hayagreeva/Parasurama), Saturn (Doorvasa/Koormarupa)..etc. Vishwaroopa is the direction for further thought. I end here and ask your Guru Maharaj to explain further Blessings Sanjay Rath - Gauranga Das <gauranga <varahamihira > Saturday, September 16, 2000 23:04 Rath Re: [sri Guru] AtmaKarka and Ista Devata > > JAYA JAGANNATHA! > > Dear Mayapur prabhu, > > Hare Krishna. > > > > > > Jaya Jagannatha! > > Dear Gauranga prabhu, and other respected Jyotisha Gurus, > > Dandavat,Pranaam. > > > > >>>Jaimini attaches Siva to Jupiter, but also Vishnu is taken often times. > > >>>>Again Mercury and Saturn indicate Vishnu as Kula Devata. > > > > Could you please help me determine my Ista Deva and Dharma Devata? > > Venus in 12.th to Karakamsa could be Sri Radharani(Zoran has told me),but I > > do not know who could signify Sani in Scorpio(9.th from Karakamsa).Maybe Sri > > Koorma Dev? > > Could it signify Sri Narasimha Dev also? Please clear my ignorance. > > Do the aspects on 9th and 12th also add significance in determining Ista > > and Dharma Devatas? > > Sanjayji says that the strongest ifluencing planet will determine the Ishta. I just noticed that Mayapur prabhu's biodata were attached to the letter in the end. So you have Atmakaraka Mars conjunct the Sun and Ketu in Pisces Navamsha. Excellent Moksha-yoga. The 12tt from it is Aquarius having Venus there. The lord of Aquarius is Saturn so there is a connection between the Ishta Devata and Dharma Devata. Venus is aspected by Moon and Jupiter. Moons' aspect on Venus would indicate Radha-Krishna according to my understanding, and Jupiter's aspect on Venus I usually take for Lord Caitanya, as He is the universal teacher (Guru) and he appearx with the Bhava and Dyuti of Srimati Radharani. Saturn as Dharma-Devata is again aspected by the Moon and Mercury, indicating Krishna/Vishnu. Usualy Saturn points to some Ugra-devata (fierce form of Godhead) which the Vasihnavas worship in the form of Narasimha. Scorpio is also a sign that could point to him. So some worship of Narasimha may be there in your life. Sometomes we could take Saturn or Ketu as the planets of renunciation to point to Nara-Narayana or Badrinarayana also. Have you been there? But ultimately, if we analyse the D-20 we see that Lagna is in Sagittarius conjunct Moon, so it clearly indicates a vaishnava. The 9th house is Leo with Jupiter and Mercury, indicating a Vaishnava Guru. Your Bhratrikarak is the Sun, so it definitely has to occupy an important place in your Guru maharaja's chart. The Guru's shishya-pada (A5) usually ocuppies the trines/opposite sign to his shishyas' Lagna. And his Lagna may be in trines/opposition to your A9 (Aries). Guest guest
Jaya Jagannath Dear Dhira krishna Prabhu, Since you asked the question about Ista, I thought of replying to you...if some one else had asked, perhaps the answer would have been a shade different. Moon does represent Krishna and Jagannatha is Krishna .. The specific form for you is Jagannatha Mahaprabhu (try to answer why this form instead of so many other forms. To do this you will have to list out all the forms and then see hundreds of charts of devotees and make a list of planets influencing the 12th from Karakamsa). WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE THIS AS AN ASSIGNMENT AND YOUR GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO THE CAUSE OF JYOTISH?
