Has anyone done any comparision studies between Vedic (Parasara and Jamini) and KP astrology. Shashank >>>>>>>>>>>>> Har Hare Hari Wahe Guru Dear Shashank, So-called KP astrology is a fantastic body of work put out in second half of 20th century by KS Krishnamurti and his followers who drew on the work of Meena and other nadi jyotishis. Nadi jyotish focuses on the use of nakshatra dispositorships. His work became controversial to many traditional jyotishis because he also relied on " Western " techniques such as Placidus house cusps. He had two notable innovations. The first was to subdivide the nakshatra dispositorships. A planet can be in a certain nakshatra and certain subdivision or " sub " , just as in Vimsottari dasa a planet is in a mahadasha and antardasa. This allows fine-tuning of when and whether expected events may materialize. The second was to employ " ruling planets, " a technique found in Varahamihira also, to highlight the most important among various significators that may bring about an event. Krishnamurti became famous for very accurate predictions using prasnas, such as naming to the minute when a delayed train would arrive. His work demands a high degree of precision and can lead to great confusion when applied without a really solid foundation in understanding all the elements of jyotish, such as the difference between rasis and nakshatras in significance and how to use them. The type of learning we are receiving in this list and with the writings of Sanjay and others is giving us that basis we need to know how to use all types of techniques. I have been working on a book based on the techniques of Krishnamurti for a couple of years, and the more I learn the more I have to go back and revise to clarify the connections on all levels. I think the best preparation one could have for any specialized technique such as the KP techniques is to absorb and digest all the elements of what Sanjay and the other teachers are trying to impart to us.
