And for long times I was not able to accept it since, I was not born in any royal family. But My D9 Lagna (Virgo) lord is debilitated in 7th. So as Visti suggested we may need to look in to strength of D9 Lagna lord, Or the relation to Lagna's Kaaraka Sun (Which gives the royal Birth). Or maybe we need to look into this rule about Ak in Swamsa lagna little more loosely. The Ak in Swamsa could indicate that the persons conduct will be as directed by soul easily? In my chart saturn is 9th and 10th lord, In my case perhaps if we define loosely we can say I have connection with famous and royal person as Srila Prabhupada though guru etc. So my spiritual family is royal and famous,?? So even with the exceptions applied there will be many charts with this condition and cannot be expected to have powerful royal connections. We must use desha-kala-patra considerations for such cases and take things in relative merit. The spiritual associations came later in life. So this is similar to Lakshmi's situation. Sanjay Rathji did tell me that this dictum about AK in navamsha lagna indicating birth in a royal or powerful family does not need to be taken so literally when I asked him about my chart. In any case, what is true royalty or power anyway? Are there other ways to understand these terms besides the common understandings? On what level is George Bush powerful? Jupiter is pretty strong being vargottama and in own house. But certainly our family is not royal and we do not have any powerful connections. But he is very spiritual. Perhaps, as Prabhakara says, we need to look at Sun too. I found Sun in the nodal axis, as in the case of LakshmiKary. I too do not have any planets in trines to navamsa lagna, but have Jup+Ketu in trines to karakamsa, so my interest in jyotish can be seen from there...but as you said there can be many other factors to be considered.
