Guest guest
Namaste Sri SweeThe enlivener comes from the Sun. Mind is when the consciousness enlivens it. Mind is the enlivener of the senses, not the enlivener itself. The ability to do so is given by the consciousness. You will need to study Vedanta for this. I am sorry, but, I do not advocate your theories. I have full regard for Richard Shaw Brown as a gemologist and the work he is doing for Indian culture. However, when you call something as " dead " , I pronounce it as laughable. Will continue to do so. To me it is as if calling Ma Shakti as " dead " . I am an independent person and will not change myself to please you or your brethren. Please refrain from using language which is unworthy of you as a person and as a fellow astrologer. You are free to disagree with me and you can express that freely. If you read my post to Sri Gaurav, I have made my position adequately clear on certain things. I may change, if I find contrary results. I do not wish to be anyone's adviser. My purpose of research is to satisfy my curiosity. I shall continue to do so, whether or not someone agrees to it or not OR whether I fit into the mental images (arudhas?) of any member here. Guest guest
Namaste Sri ManojA very good question. Sincerely, I haven't tried. Logically, it should. This question has troubled my mind too. About a year back, I was with a Car Dealer of Mercedes. He was wearing a " Moonga " (red coral) is his middle finger. So I asked him, generally middle finger is for Saturn. He replied that his Pundit told him since Saturn needs to overcome by Mars, so wear a Mars ring on the finger of Saturn. He further shared that it helped stop a spate of small accidents that he had been having. I have not tried doing the same. I am studying the elements of each of the fingers and how they interact. Let's take it further - which hand - right or left? :)Btw, you painted a very cute introduction of yours. Humbleness brings eternity. People who are not somebody, are nearer to the Lord. People who think they are someone, are farthest. My best regards to you. Bharat On 4/19/07, Manoj Sharma < manojsharma662000 wrote: <Venus represents our immune system and protective aura. Guest guest
Dear Bharat, The Paramtman is one and not many, but Jeevatman certainly has a different existence as long as it is in human body. Again if Atman can not be controlled then how do you explain your statement "Thumb represents the Brahman or the Atman." Surely thumbs that you are referring to belong to different persons. But letting go of the semantics, I request you again to please give a quote from a classic for the support of use of Rings in fingers for astrological remedies. That will help me understand the concept better. I remember Venus being connected to thumb in western astrology but fail to find any such reference in either Samudrik shastra or Vedic astrology hence I am putting you to the trouble of giving any quote that explains this deviation from Vedic Astrology. If the source is something other than Vedic astrology, then of course I have no interest in that. By the way, I have not said that all tantriks can take control of a person's Atman. I said that the practitioners of tantra make a person to wear the ring in thumb for control of his Atma (whereas it is his mind that they might want to control). Some say that this is done to ward off the possibility of anyone taking control of one's Atma (or mind) in left handed Tantra. Regards, Chandrashekhar. Bharat - Hindu Astrology wrote: Namaste Sri Chandrashekhar Atman is not many, one belonging to each person. Upanishad gives us a mahavakya - Atman is Brahman. To consider it separate is the purpose of ego. No tantrik can control Atman. It is beyond all control. Consciousness is what enlivens the mind, the body, the senses and the world. Using thumb to wear a ring is precisely for making one aware and for protection to all chakras. Venus is the protector of the entire aura and all chakras. It is the protector of the immune system. To provide wholesome help to all chakras, we take help of the thumb. In Vedic culture, divinity is made a part and parcel of daily living. In Upasana, the natural phenomenon is taken as an analogy to remember the truth. In Dhyana, the mudra is remembered for the same purpose. There may be other mudras, but, we have taken this mudra to understand a particular concept shown by it. Hope this helps. Thanks and Regards Bharat On 4/19/07, Chandrashekhar < sharma.chandrashekhar > wrote: Dear Bharat, I did not say or imply that you are practicing or advocating left tantra. If that is the impression my mail created, I am sorry. I agree that thumb is indicator of Atman and that precisely is the reason that rings are not worn on thumb normally, whereas those tantrik who want control of other's atma use the thumb for wearing a ring, is what I understand. May I know any source of classics that refers to use of rings on thumbs? That will help me understand the reason this may be done as a remedial measure in Vedic Astrology. As to use of thumb in dhyan mudra, thumb is used in many mudras and mot only in dhyan mudra and I could not follow the logic about that being the reason for wearing ring in the thumb. I have also not followed the connection of Venus to the thumb. Could you please elaborate? Chandrashekhar. Bharat - Hindu Astrology wrote: Namaste Sri Chandrashekhar and Sri Gaurav I do not practice or advocate the use of Left handed Tantra. We all know how dangerous it can be. The usage of thumb to put rings on is not something connected to left hand of Tantra. If they use it now, it could be have been borrowed from a different system. The index finger represents the individual self or the "ego". In the dhyana mudra, one holds the index finger and connects it to the Thumb, and the other three fingers are set aside. Thumb represents the Brahman or the Atman. The mudra suggests that the ego self when negated, eternal peace reigns. This becomes a way of meditation for the Sadhaka. Venus represents our immune system and protective aura. If Venus is weak, immune problems are likely to occur. The protection is always with the grace of Supreme Consciousness and thus, we wear a gemstone of Venus on the thumb. Sukra has an immense capability to control Tamas. You can also relate it to the Mritunjay Sanjivini Vidya which Sukra Dev had. When Sukra is strong in a chart, Mahalakshmi blesses the person with longevity, good health, purposeful action, etc. Diamond/ White Sapphire on the thumb does work wonders. Now, coming to wearing other gems (other than Venus's gems) on the Thumb. I haven't prescribed this, but, I know someone who does. He says, by wearing a protective gemstone (by the rules of astrology) on the thumb, one can have special knowledge concerned with the graha. I would assume (to my peril), a yellow sapphire would give the person special know-how on the areas represented by houses which Jupiter rules in the chart and its own natural significations. Popularity in the society, Ambition, Ability to resist the tamasic forces, Pitambari Vidya, Ways of making fortune, etc. Hope this helps. I have given my reasons for the same and I do not share your views or Sri Richard Shaw Brown on the same. The basic premise of our thoughts is different. I merely laugh at totally ridiculous statements of calling certain gemstones as "Dead" (which he wrote in SJC Jyotish Digest too). Maharatnas and Uparatnas can be used side by side, without one canceling the effects of the other. I have found that they work perfectly in harmony, if prescribed properly. Only the green of quartz family is considered Aventurine. The other gems have wrongly borrowed the term. The deeper the green the better it is for the heart and communication, even when opaque. Opal is a healer stone for Moon, not an activator stone. This is something I am still working on and will explain later. Fire Opal is excellent for Manipura chakra along with Carnelian. Try Fire Opal for a person with stomach problems. Gemstones, even when worn on the ears act as kavacha, or as a band on the head covering the Agya Chakra, or as belt on the manipura chakra, etc. It would depend upon the gemstone to be worn. Like Diamond should not be worn at the Manipura Chakra. Diamond should stay in the neck till the heart chakra or in the Thumb of the Right hand. There are still things that I am discovering, will let people know about it on an as to when basis, provided they keep an open mind about it. Thanks and Regards Bharat On 4/11/07, Swee Chan < sweechan (AT) mac (DOT) com> wrote: Jaya Jagannatha Dear Chandrashekhar ji, Bharat, Namaste Yes, I would tend to agree on the advice of a diamond instead. According to Dhruva Nadi, diabetes can be due to a weak Venus. Puranani come in the three modes in the four paths within the pancha siddhanta. As for the recommendations of gemstones, the main purana that throws more light into its applications is through the Garuda purana – much Agni in it so one may see the light or not. Diamonds cannot be worn by women who wish for a son. Otherwise, even an eroded material can be worn. This is only for women – the tacit meaning is that Venus presides over the Diamond and Venus in the name of love keels over the Sun who exalts in a sign ruled by Mars – celibacy being one of the modes in stage of life when the inner self feels the need to see the light. As for Aventurine – there are three types of "mistaken identity" The plagioclase feldspar, the glass type star spangled with mica (like the Sunstone) and the other one is the one from quartzite. A quartzite is formed by the metamorphic process – some maybe produced by a formation of silica cementation of quartz grain which maybe sand, mica or sandstone and mainly used for ornamental purposes because of its non transparency. The quartzite rock ooften contains small crystals of mica or an iron mineral. The rock that exhibits the schiller is often known as aventurine quartz. NONE of these are transparent – the translucent ones tend to be banded – hence not desired. Localities in India are in Belvadi in the Hassan district of Mysore and at nearby Sindagere which is the first named place producing the blusih green banded type. Others can come from Coimbatore and Nellore districts of Madras. In the Nedllore district, the pale aquamarine green, banded with deep purple can be found. The refractive indices of quartzites are similar to those of crystal quartz BUT due to the confused mass of disorientation of the crystals which the rock is composed of, only a vague shadow edge at 1.55 is the norm. owing to the inhomogenity of the material and due to the presence of impurities, the specific gravity maybe as low as 2.64 but can be as high as 2.69 only. The "greenish" aventurine can be identified with a chelsea  colour filter (don't have one? Use your polaroid sunglasses) which gives the "reddish" glow. Bharat, you've not stated which planet rules Opals. As I follow rules and in the light of the three modes, the four paths and the pancha siddhanta, I do not attempt to mix Maharatnas and Uparatnas. Besides, identification of the one or the pair of gemstones is good enough for the person. A gemstone acts like a kavacha mostly to be worn round the neck to touch the solar plexus – the Manipura cakra.... Love, Swee Chandrashekhar <sharma.chandrashekhar > Tue, 10 Apr 2007 23:12:40 +0530 Re: [Jaya Jagannatha] Re: Aventurine Dear Swee, I did not know that Ramdas Rao was a diabetic. I would think that wearing a diamond would help him more than any other gem as it is the yogakaraka and afflicted. Blue saffire that is indicative of Saturn who, besides being the lagna lord is also a maraka by virtue of owning the 2nd bhava might not be a very good gem for him to wear. More so as Saturn, the navamsha dispositor of Mercury the 6th lord, aspects the 6th bhava, and the 6th lord, in rasi chart. Could ask him whether the diabetic condition was discovered 23rd of may of 1983 when Mercury Pratyantar (360 Savana day year calculations) was running for him, for the sake of confirmation? Love, Chandrashekhar. Swee Chan wrote:  Jaya Jagannatha  Dear Bharat, Namaste  Several things which I need to clarify with you:  No guess work here please, on an obsidian – which is natural glass. The same goes for Aventurine which is glass, "silver coloured-star" spangled with mica. I have worked with Obsidian many a time – it is excellent for fractures or concussions – which you apply directly over the area. Garuda Purana classifies these a spurious. Why would you consider a piece of natural glass a gem? I have a piece of faceted natural light "Aquamarine" found in the same pit and during faceting, was found to be a piece of glass – perfect without bubbles.  On Opals – the are not resistant to sharp blows exactly like the Emerald. It needs to be re-hydrated every now and again. Which planet lords over the Opal? Besides both the Aventurine and Opals are far too soft for use as jewellery. I am sure you are not aware of this, but would reiterate that Ramdas ji is already a fine blue Sapphire whose power will be nullified with an uparatna next to it. Ramdas ji beware, please.  I read somewhere in your other mail that you state that some green stone belongs to Vishnu – it is not just just ANY green stone, but the GREEN DIAMOND – refer to first chapter in gemstone description beginning with the diamond.  Love,  Swee   Bharat - Hindu Astrology <astrologyhindu >  <sohamsa >  Sat, 31 Mar 2007 11:37:22 -0700  <sohamsa >  Re: Diabetes      Namaste Sri Ramadasji  Please pardon my intrusion. This type often responds to lifestyle changes. Some of the type two diabetes charts I've looked at don't have obvious afflictions to Shukra, probably because it's a more complicated story.       Here is a chart of someone who was diagnosed with type one diabetes over 30 years ago, and also suffers from rheumatoid arthritis.       Please note the following points:        Quadrants are only occupied by natural benefics, which should protect health. Although he suffers from two serious auto immune conditions and is on many medications, he works and lives his life fairly normally. Chandra is in lagna and is 8th lord and is dispositor of maandi and gulika, damaging the health. Sun is in sankranti dosa, which makes the vara lord very malefic. In this case, Mangala is vara lord and is conjoined 6th lord sukra, karaka for sugar digestion. Rahu also gives its back stabbing graha dristi to shukra, creating a curse of two malefics on shukra. There are two chara karaka replacements in this chart, which further damages health and is often seen in the charts of people with auto immune problems.             You can also read more about Jyotish and auto immune diseases on the Jiva blog at www.jiva.us <http://www.jiva.us>  <http://www.jiva.us/>  . The light of consciousness is always with us but we do not use it and function mechanically and egoistically. We do not need to control something to use something. We only have to be open to it. We do not need to control Atman. We are not trying to wear a ring in the Thumb to control something. Since Atman is all pervasive, we use the diamond ring in the Thumb to use the energy permeate and balance all chakras. This way we strengthen the immune system and can help ourselves. Plus when we tap into the source of all energy (even to say symbolically), we get special know-how of the related subject. If there are problems with immune system, they may come to light and will be diagnosed or treated in time. We will get special knowledge of healing. I guess by the same logic, some other pundits have suggested Yellow Sapphire in the thumb, though I have not. About Venus, I am only requesting something to support claim of the use of thumb in relation to Gems as astrological remedy, from astrological texts. same for Venus being protector of Aura and immune system. Any astrological references would be appreciated.I have seen many people addressing you with respect as they would an elderly and knowledgeable person. At my age, I haven't come across " any claim in astrological texts " . I may in the future or I may not. However, in my interaction with some of the unknown great pundits of Haridwar, Rishikesh, Pt. I merely laugh at totally ridiculous statements of calling certain gemstones as " Dead " (which he wrote in SJC Jyotish Digest too). As for Aventurine – there are three types of " mistaken identity " The plagioclase feldspar, the glass type star spangled with mica (like the Sunstone) and the other one is the one from quartzite. The " greenish " aventurine can be identified with a chelsea colour filter (don't have one? Use your polaroid sunglasses) which gives the " reddish " glow. The same goes for Aventurine which is glass, " silver coloured-star " spangled with mica. I have worked with Obsidian many a time – it is excellent for fractures or concussions – which you apply directly over the area. Garuda Purana classifies these a spurious. Why would you consider a piece of natural glass a gem? I have a piece of faceted natural light " Aquamarine " found in the same pit and during faceting, was found to be a piece of glass – perfect without bubbles. It is permanent and irreversable once the damage is done, and the patient needs insulin for life. Natives with auto immune disease or cancer often show afflictions to the ojas, represented by jala tattvah graha Shukra (power of rejuvenation) and also Chandra. Type two diabetes is more complex with receptors on cells of the body being " worn out " and not responding to insulin, causing a rise in the blood sugar levels. Guest guest
Namaste Sri ChandrashekharRead comments in Blue: I am more confused now. Do you mean that the chakras ( I trust you are referring to Shata chakras) are controlled through Thumb? I am sure you must have something from some reliable text to support that premise. I suppose you use the internet. Do you have any reliable ancient scripture to say that you can use it? I think if logic is flawed and one wants to remain confused, no reasoning can help. However, my reasoning is perfectly clear, only you are stuck up with control. However, that is your choice. By the way, I have not questioned thumb representing atman as indicated by your Vedanta Guru. As a matter of fact I said that is the reason that left hand tantra practitioners many a times make others wear ring in thumb to control his atma (soul). I have also not commented on whether they are in fact to control the soul or otherwise. When you use the word " control his atma " , you are going against the very Vedas. It is surprising that going against the Vedas is acceptable to you, but, yet, you speak of finding astrological source! As I already have written that Atman is beyond control. When you do not question thumb to be representing Atman, it is clear that its energy helps holistically and specially all the chakras. That is the reason of this symbolism. When one says that the index finger represents Ego, that does not mean that Ego resides in it only, and by cutting it one can get rid of Ego. Symbolism has a great significance in our learning. The puranic quotes that many use are based on symbolism (of which many members have no clue about, including myself to a large extent). Yet, with ignorance people use them. It is strange in such a circumstance and given thoroughly adequate logic, you still wish to remain confused. As I thought, it is apparent that there is no astrological text that connects Venus with Thumb. Inferences have to be drawn from some pramana coupled with logic, or at least that is what I have been taught. It seems you have different view on the subject.I can also use sharper sarcasm but chose not to. Perhaps I still have etiquette. Since you think that Astrological texts are not pramana, though that shastra is called Vedanga, it does not seem right to discuss anything further. I hope you know the meaning of Vedanga and its purpose. It'll be better not to discuss anymore for some other factors take precedence over knowledge, logic and reasonings. Guest guest
Dear Bharat, It seems that you are offended by me asking you simple questions. I do not understand the necessity or the logic of the permission of ancient scriptures for use of Internet. However if you like, the Brahma sutras do talk about "Athaato brahma jigyaasaa" without putting any restriction on what tools or books or means one uses to do that, as long as one seeks to know the true nature of the Brahman or absolute truth; which is permission enough for me, if you like one from the scriptures. I do know what are the Vedangas and so does every Hindu. I also know the difference between the Para and Apara vidya and the opinion of Upanishads about Vedas and Vedangas and their use. But since you do not want to reveal the source of your premise, and appear to be irritated by my simple questions, I shall not respond further so that calm prevails on the list. Chandrashekhar. Bharat - Hindu Astrology wrote: Namaste Sri Chandrashekhar Read comments in Blue: I am more confused now. When you use the word "control his atma", you are going against the very Vedas. It seems you have different view on the subject. I can also use sharper sarcasm but chose not to. Thanks for your time and effort Thanks and Regards Bharat  Chandrashekhar. Bharat - Hindu Astrology wrote: Namaste Sri Chandrashekhar Please read comments in blue: Dear Bharat, I am confused, as you are equating the Partmatman with the atman in the thumb on the one hand and on the other saying that atman can not be controlled. Let me try and explain and hope it will help us understand. When one is Sattwic, what is it that one is doing? One is letting go of the false sense of ego and more and more understand that the truth is Lord. This brings forth clarity and vision. Any astrological references would be appreciated. I have seen many people addressing you with respect as they would an elderly and knowledgeable person. At my age, I haven't come across "any claim in astrological texts". I may in the future or I may not. However, in my interaction with some of the unknown great pundits of Haridwar, Rishikesh, Pt. Nanak Chand Sharmaji (who was like my maternal grandfather and a known expert in Ayurveda), and others, this is their view too. My starting Vedanta Guru had also explained that the Thumb symbolically represents the Atman. Astrological Texts or whatever is left of them is quite limited. Many texts have been corrupted or destroyed, while other remain hidden by and with many traditional families. Moreover, like Vedanta, Jyotish texts are NOT a Pramana, hence inference becomes very important. We, therefore, use inference as a means of knowledge. This is a perfectly valid means of knowledge with only one drawback. The drawback is that one can be wrong in the inference. So it must be backed with experience and yet one should remain open to the possibility of deeper knowledge. Thanks and Regards Bharat  Chandrashekhar. Neither have you indicated the astrological text source which connects Venus to the thumb. Your original words, if I may quote again were "Thumb represents the Brahman or the Atman." That was your proposition. Now you say that it does not represent Atman. Could you elaborate why this change of stand now? Astrologically speaking Atman relates not to the soul but to the Atmabala of the Jataka, though these days it is fashionable to equate the two. I was referring to that as atman as I was writing about an astrological practice. If we accept your premise of Thumb symbolically (as you say now) representing the Atman, as in soul, and wearing a ring around it leading to propitiating Venus then one has to equate Venus to Atman symbolically or otherwise. That is why I am requesting for a quote equating the two. It would be appreciated if the shloka or anuwak that you are referring to are quoted for illustration of the group. Merely giving the classics to be studied may not serve that purpose. I have not found the reference to wearing of ring on thumb or equating it to Atman or Venus in either of the Upanishads that you are referring to hence the request. Chandrashekhar. Bharat - Hindu Astrology wrote: Namaste Sri Chandrashekhar First of all the basis of all classics is the Vedas. The mahavakya is "Atman is Brahman". Therefore, consider the human body to be within the Atman and not Atman to be within the human body. Classics to be studied (Taitteriya Upanishad, Isavasya Upanishad). It is the ego which thinks itself to be separate and considers itself to be conscious. Jeevatman is a word to describe such a state of non-understanding. It does not mean that separate Atman's are floating around in different people's bodies. Thumb represents Atman symbolically. Without thumb all fingers become useless. So Thumb can be said to enliven the fingers, similarly the Atman enlivens the mind, body, senses, etc. For me the biggest quotes are the Vedas. If you do not want to accept this, please do not. Noone can take control of the Atman. It is free and beyond all control. The thought of control cannot enliven itself unless in light of Atman. It is Satyam, Gnanam and Anantam. Foolish are those who think they can control the Atman. Probably they are referring to the Sookshma Sarira or the subtle body. I cannot comment on such Tantriks. Hope this helps. I'd prescribe the following for you:  1. Wear a beautiful 20-25 carats oval white quartz in Silver pendant. Place Aventurine beads all around the white quartz in the same pendant. Please wear it on a Friday following the appropriate method. 2. Wear a fire opal in Silver in smallest finger of the left hand. Wear on a Monday in Shukla Paksha.  I am sure you would have done/are doing the mantra remedies as are appropriate from the chart.  Thanks and Regards Bharat    On 31 Mar 2007 05:10:29 -0700, Ramadas Rao <ramadasrao (AT) (DOT) co.in> wrote:   ॠशà¥à¤°à¥€ राघवेनà¥à¤¦à¥à¤°à¤¾à¤¯ नमः॥    ॠशà¥à¤°à¥€ लकà¥à¤·à¥à¤®à¥€à¤¨à¥à¤°à¥à¤¸à¤¿à¤‚हाय नमः॥   Dear Will Keizer Ji,    You can go through my chart and I am diabetic-1 from the age of 31 years.( 1983 )Presently I am on insulin for 2 times a day along with tablets also.    In my chart,Shukra who is vargottama is afflicted by being with Rahu and is in the nakshatra of Shatabhisha ruled by Rahu also.Guru, the 3rd and 12th lord is placed in 3rd house vargottama but in Gandantha.    I hope this helps.    With Shri Hari Vaayu Guru Naama Smarana,    Ramadas Rao.        "Willa Keizer, C.C.H." < willa (AT) homeopathyhome (DOT) net <willa (AT) homeopathyhome (DOT) net> > wrote:               Om Gurave Namah       Dear  Krishna,       Type one diabetes is actually an auto immune disease where the body's own immune system attacks and debilitates the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.  It is permanent and irreversable once the damage is done, and the patient needs insulin for life.      Natives with auto immune disease or cancer often show afflictions to the ojas, represented by jala tattvah graha Shukra (power of rejuvenation) and also Chandra.       Type two diabetes is more complex with receptors on cells of the body being "worn out" and not responding to insulin, causing a rise in the blood sugar levels.
