Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Lists, Namaste In the continuation of the 8 dhatu, I have found a passage in Padma Purana about Mercury; That it came from Bala asura’s blood. In a quest to understand more of Shiva’s energy, is anyone familiar with the story of Jalandhara? Arpad Joo, Hariram Pansari? Thanks very much. Guest guest
Dear Swee Jee, Jay Jagannatha, As the topic closed by Hon'ble Sanjay Rath Jee, we should not discuss more. Here we should discuss about Astrology only. As per the essence of astrology I can say only that : The formula/upadesh behind the 'Puraana-story' may be like this: Shiva as supreme soul is the supreme-father of all (Sura=goodness,positive_energy and Asura=bad,negative_energy both), his anger(2nd of 5 main sin) appeared as a Asuara. As 'Samudra- manthan' can't be done without joint-venture of Sura and Asura, and no nectar and no poison would came-out, likewise the 'Vichaar- manthan' (Brain-storming) for getting Jnaana (knowledge) can't be without joint_venture of positive and negative thinking both. As electric power can't work without using negative and positive both currents(wires), likewise in Jyotish plannets and stars plays multiple roles giving both possitive and negative effects in different conditions of conjuncts, dristi, yoga and kaaraka etc. The meaning of " Bal-Asura's blood " as mercury may be taken as: mercury has very harmful Guna, but if purified became very useful. For example : how the " Ratnaakar docait changed in Vaalmiki rishi by chanting 'Mara-Mara' - opposit name of Rama-Rama also and written 'Ramaayana' kaavya. " So it may be the essence that : Tulasi (Vrinda) and other many herbs many-times gives better results than the wearing of costly Gemstones for Shanti of some 'Graha-Dosha' or saves from the negative effects of plannets and stars. As Astrology also taken as occupation or good source of income by some... and they earn much by suggesting costly solutions by wearing of Gemstones, Japa by Panditas, great expensive pooja etc.. which are not possible by the poor men. Therefore, I prefer to provide cheaper solutions, as already mentioned in the Vedic lituratures (See below for Example) : SACRED PLANTS: Tulasi Tree (Vrinda Devi) Bel Tree (Shiva) Mango Tree (Ganesh) Coconut Tree Banana Tree (Ganesh) Bamboo (Skanda) Red Lotus (Sun) White Lotus (Moon) All Lotus Flowers (Lakshmi Devi) Sindoor (Orange=Hanuman, Red=Durga Devi) Kumkum (Durga Devi) White Sandalwood (Venus) Bhojpatra Sriphal (Lakshmi Devi) Kamakhy (Kamakhya Devi) Banyan Tree (Krishna) Bodhi Tree (Buddha) Ashoka Tree (Buddha) Aak Plant and root (Ganesha) Bhang (Shiva) Red Sandalwood - Lal Chandan (Mars) Jasmine (Venus) SACRED HERBS: Arka plant (Sun) Palasa plant (Moon) Pippala Tree (Jupiter) Durva Grass (Rahu) Apamarga (Mercury) Audumbara (Venus) Kusa (Ketu) Shami Tree (Saturn) Khadira (Mars) Pouring water daily in these tree/plants or wearing the maalaa of the wood of these, may also give better shanti. Some of thoughts are elaborated in by blog. http://hariraama.blogspot.com/ Any correction is welcomed. With regards. Guest guest
Dear Swee, I found the below mail that I had kept for reply for many days through oversight. I think the story of Jalandhara appears in both the Padma and Linga purana. I think the fire generated by Shiva, on Indra disturbing him by not recognizing him and hitting him with Vajra, was thrown into Ocean and Jalandhara was born according to Padma Purana. Lord shiv could only kill him and he is said to have done that by churning th ocean with his big toe and creating Sudarshan Chakra which he asked Jalandhara to lift and Jalandhara was beheaded by the chakra and his body was cut to pieces. I think Yama created Maharaurava Naraka (hell) from his flesh and blood. Love, Chandrashekhar.
