The Khavedamsa is the 3rd harmonic of the 4th

(40-3 x 12 = 4) so this indicates the matrilineal descendants. The Akshavedamsa is the 3rd harmonic of the 9th

house (45-3 x 12 = 9), so this indicates the karma from the paternal

descendants.
