Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Visti, Namaste I guess these 8 spokes represent the “2 layers” of the dwaras and are different to the 12 spokes representing the wheel of time. I had an interesting read about planets either in the 12th or aspecting the 12th from karakamsa in the JMUS wrt moksa. Love, Swee sohamsa [sohamsa ] On Behalf Of Visti Larsen Wednesday, October 12, 2005 11:33 AM sohamsa kala chakra and atmakaraka (RE: Re: Rahu AK - Sanjay ji) ||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Swee, Namaskar The Jeevanmuktaamsa is seen from the twelfth from karakamsa. In this parampara we consider this the istha, as the one who can give Mukti in this body (jeevan-mukta) must be the most auspicious, and the rest are just temporary focus of worship. The planet determining the karakamsa, is the atmakaraka and there are only eight such for the animate beings, as these animate beings follow time. The wheel of time has these eight spokes imbeded and is known as the Kala Chakra. This is the basis of hinduism. It is also the ‘map’ of the atma or soul, and shows the eight states (nine actually) which the atma can be in during anytime... see Dhyana-bindu-upanishad, sloka 94. Among these eight spokes, half are recieving energy whilst the other half are excerting energy. Because of the sense of ahamkara present in most animate beings, the spokes recieving energy are the only ones ‘awake’... the rest are hidden or without awareness. However, once in a while an atma is born with more awareness of the remaining ‘hidden’ petals, and there are four such atmas depending on the atmakaraka. These those with their atmakaraka as; Mangal, Budha, Shani and Rahu. Thus the atmakaraka itself can determine the level of awareness and spirituality. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Dear Swee & Utpal, I feel that the very purpose of Ishta is to correct our li'l kinks and retrogressions and force us firmly onto the " right (read zodiacal) path " as shown by the luminaries. Isn't it so? I think Rahu as AK gives one the rare ability to totally " eclipse " one's own identity and takeon some other's persona. For example, Sri Ramakrishna's ability to morph himself so completely into Radha and Hanuman, including even physical characteristics, is something only Rahu as AK can perhaps bestow. I don't know if Visti also has this ability! I also feel that the behaviour of Rahu as AK is largely dependent on the dignity of its dispositor and Saturn. In Sri Ramkrishna's chart, Saturn is exalted and so is Venus, Rahu's dispositor. In Visti's chart, Rahu's dispositor Moon and Saturn are placed in the 11th house, pointing to his great interest in astrology. But if Rahu's dispositor and Saturn are ill placed, perhaps the native with such a Rahu as AK might turn out to be a cheat. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Namaste Sourav ji, Happy vijaya dasami. I do not think intelligence alone determines one's actions. I think it is more head+heart and the ratio can vary from person to person. And, the problem with Rahu is that he is all head and no heart! :--)) When i talked about Rahu giving the results of dispositor and Saturn, I was talking basics, na? of course, i agree that the over all tenor of the chart also needs to be kept in mind. For example in Sri Ramakrishna's chart, it is the strength of the 4th & 9th lords/houses which gave him such magnificent spiritual bent of mind, because in addition to intelligence, they also gave him an empathic/guileless heart and uncompromising dharma. Infact, I have seen that in most of the charts, placements of planets revolve around & reinforce a pivotal theme/trait in the native's chart. It's a pattern hard to miss and hardly broken. I hope you don't mind my talking about the charts of avatars & saints, because it is the direction given to me by my Guru, Sanjay ji. I may not be doing full justice to Them, but i become a wee bit better person by thinking about those great souls. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Lakshmi, Namaste Because of his castigation, Rahu has no abode. He is rather cognizant of his dispositor. Rahu especially with other (natural) malefics in trines from swamsa or from karakamsa indicates flair to mantras and spells. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Namaste Sourav ji, I never said that " heart " alone is good. I always talked in terms of head+heart, remember? Pure intelligence, as very beautifully pointed out by you, is indeed Shiva and though brilliant, it is often as gullible and defenceless in the face of cunning as Him. The stories of Bhasmasura and Gajasura precisely talk of this. And, the way He was taken in by the Mohini avatara of Vishnu! Because Pure Intelligence is like a Baby... inquisitive, innocent and unafraid...hence its ability to roam hitherto uncharted territories but very vulnerable all the same. Wisdom is different, because like an old man, it is not unmindful of past experiences and understands impure emotions, though it undoubtedly revels in a pure heart. Jupiter represents this wisdom and is discriminating, whereas Pure Intelligence (Sun) is non-discriminatory and is vulnerable to Rahu as are pure emotions (Moon). Together, they can spot the lurking Rahus, but it is Jupiter embodying Wisdom who can finally slay the asuras. While Pure Awareness/Intelligence is certainly " laya " .. being one with Brahman, it lacks the nurturing capacity of wisdom (head+heart). The former blazes its way to personal emancipation, while the latter meanders to moksha, uplifting & enriching millions on the way. I think Sri Ramakrishna, for along time, forbade Swami Vivekananda to cross the final threshold to Absolute Consciousness, for this very purpose. He wanted Vivekananda to learn to nurture. Thanks for a great discussion and I can see the fire and passion of Vivekananda burning in you too. All the very best and God bless. And, I always thought that Jupiter loves the company of Moon:( Regards, Lakshmi --- Sourav Chowdhury <souravc108 wrote: > || Hare Rama Krishna || > > Dear Lakshmi-ji, > namaskar. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Dear Utpal Bhai, Namaste. I am sure I have your friend's chart, but am unable to recall his name and hence his chart. I think I have already told you about my infamous memory for names and charts! Could you please give me the name of this gentleman? In Srila Prabhupada's (AK-Rahu) chart also, Saturn is exalted and Saturn also happens to be the dispositor of Rahu. Guest guest
Sri Brahmadaru Smarami Dear Swee, How aptly you put it. It is said that on Ratha Saptami, that is the day of the Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath travels in the rath or the chariot down the main road (Baradanda) from his temple straight down to the other end to the Gundicha Mandir. This is his aunt's house where Radha dwells. Radha represents moksha. It is said that the pulling of the chariot in this short journey from the main temple to the Gundicha Temple, represents the journey/suffering of the jivatma in this material plane. The act of pulling the chariot absolves the soul of its sin and brings it closer to emancipation. Reaching the destination of Gundicha, wherein Radha resides, symbolises the attainment of moksha. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Dear Sarbani, Namaste. That's a lovely write-up on Radha & Rath yatra. I have a small query. Is this Ratha Saptami the same as Surya Jayanti? Or does this Saptami come in Ashaadha maasa, like the annual Jagannath Rath yatra held on Ashadha sukla dwiteeya? It is interesting, because Ratha saptami (Surya Jayanti) is also celebrated in Tirumala as one-day brahmotsavam and the Lord is taken out in continuous processions on various vahanas/rathas from sunrise to sunset. Surya jayanti is also on a saptami as you correctly pointed out, and that is celebrated with aplomb at Konarak, were there have a huge 'mela' or fair and the idols of Surya are paraded around (the original of course is snugly ensconced at the British Museum). Guest guest
Sri Brahmadaru Smarami Dear Visti, Namaskar. Shiva is all that is auspicious. He cajoles us towards that state of auspiciousness, by drinking our internal poison, and cleansing the sins that we commit unto ourselves. Hence this is internal. Vishnu is sarvavyapakeshwara focussing on that which is external. He cleanses those sins that we commit towards others. Just by taking the name of Hari, it is said, that sins gets cleansed. The Hare Rama mahamantra as given by Mahaprabhu to the world is precisely for the purpose of cleansing of sins accumulated in a lifetime. We are told to chant the Hare Rama Krishna mantra before putting our feet on the ground in the morning, so that Mother Earth is not burdened by our sins. In actuality, Shiva and Vishnu are the different aspects of the same. Worshipping Mahalakshmi or Durga in their higher manifestations also cleanses sins..."sarvapapa hare devi...". She is also an aspect of the same. Guest guest
Sri Brahmadaru Smarami Dear Lakshmi, That is very correct. We have been encouraged to always discuss the charts of great souls so that we are elevated to a higher realm and indulge in discussions about the higher purposes of life. Otherwise we are caught only in discussing each others ULs and A7s ! Moreover, such great souls inspire and serve as an example. Thirdly, just by talking about them we are invoking their presence and hence their blessings! I do not think intelligence alonedetermines one's actions. I think it is morehead+heart and the ratio can vary from person toperson. And, the problem with Rahu is that he is allhead and no heart!:--))When i talked about Rahu giving the results ofdispositor and Saturn, I was talking basics, na? ofcourse, i agree that the over all tenor of the chartalso needs to be kept in mind. For example in SriRamakrishna's chart, it is the strength of the 4th & 9th lords/houses which gave him such magnificentspiritual bent of mind, because in addition tointelligence, they also gave him an empathic/guilelessheart and uncompromising dharma. Infact, I have seenthat in most of the charts, placements of planetsrevolve around & reinforce a pivotal theme/trait inthe native's chart. It's a pattern hard to miss andhardly broken.I hope you don't mind my talking about the charts ofavatars & saints, because it is the direction given tome by my Guru, Sanjay ji. Yes this is the Jagannath Rath Yatra as the world knows it. Surya jayanti is also on a saptami as you correctly pointed out, and that is celebrated with aplomb at Konarak, were there have a huge 'mela' or fair and the idols of Surya are paraded around (the original of course is snugly ensconced at the British Museum). This is known as Magha Saptami.
