Dear Srinivas,

Thanks for you erply & input. first of all let me clear one thing that Desh/Kaal/Paatra principle is by default in any of our astrological discussions even if the mention of it is not there.

I have a Mars & Venus combination & i am a very fast eater. i finish my food very fast.

Now i rememered one more chart who has a Strong Influence of Mars on Lagna as well Lagnesh. I remembered it when he has written following line in a recent mail..

"There are no charges but students are expected to buy coffee for Pt.Rath :)"

i am not aware if Shri Sanjay Rath is also habitual with Tea/cofee.

Interesting discussion on food!! The point to be noted or analysed is 2H, 2HL and its aspects. LL-Mars in 2H for an Aries Ascendant, here implies, some finishing his / her food fast!!! Mars is a action oriented planet and he has little patience !!! Venus is a "slow eater". One has to apply "Desh, Kaal Patra" in all such cases. Rahu aspect on 2H also implies " taking non-vegetarian food and drinking liquor". This is ok in indian context. When seen from an european or western concept, it makes no meaning. Dear Utpal-bhai,

Namaskar. In the context of food do read Prashna

Maarga/ Dr. B. V. Raman Chapter XXVII (27) in the Part Two of the

book. Although it relates to Bhojana Prashna (Query related to

Food), it gives a wealth of indicators as to what/how/how much/with

whom etc the food is taken.

Incidentally, in your 2H, which amongst Ma and Ve is defeated in the

grahayuddha ? Any of them retrograde ? What are the avasthas of

these two planets ?

Best Regards,

Sourav

Dear Sourav Dada,

After a long break, we are talking again.

as i said in my email, Food Habits will be discussed in Part-2. and i

think you mistakenly took my Mars+Venus in 2nd house. actually they

are in Lagna & Mars is defeated.

furthermore if you go thro' my original mail, I have said that Though

2nd house & lord is the indicator of Food,Drinking habits in general

BUT Strong Influence of Mars on Lagna AND Lagnesh both creates HOT

TEA drinking habits.

Warm regards after a long break

Dear Utpal-bhai,

Namaskar. Ok, I understand. But why both Lagna and

Lagnesh? I suspect only Lagna or Lagna lord is suffice if at all

that be the case. And don't forget to bring in the connection to the

2H/L when it comes to food/speech

I would need your chart to look into it more.

Best Regards,

Sourav

Dear Sourav,

Namaste,

My logic goes as follows:

Tea/Cofee in morning is quite common stuff with most people. but what

standsout is Habit of it & taking it in HOT state. so i feel that

Mars influence over 'Thee' (Lagna) & It's Lord both is erquired to

really influnce the person's Habit of having Hot Tea/cofee...

Here you are now aware that i am overlooking 2nd house & it's lord

(which carries the actual Portfolio) and projecting only Lagna & it's

lord because the fact that the planet which influences Lagna & it;s

lord strongly has a definate say over matters connected to it's

natural significations and i am trying to findout weather or not Mars

is related to Hot Stuffs like Tea/cofee etc.

At present i have got 3 examples which proves above right

1) Utpal Pathak - Mars in Lagna with venus + exchange with Mercury

(Lagna lord)

2) Bhaskaran (My ex-professional mate) - Mars+Venus i scorpio Lagna

3) Kamalesh (from VA List) - Mars in 6th with Lagna lord Sun &

Strongly influencing Lagna

Now i erquest opinion of Shri Sanja Rathji, who also has Strong

influence of Mars on Lagna + it's lord guru.

best regards,

utpal

Dear Sourav Ji,

You are discussing Sanjay Ji's chart regarding his food habits.

In his chart, Lagna is a common sign and watery sign and Lagna lord Guru is there itself. So the food he is taking is clean. He likes more of tea as Shani (V) aspects Lagna and its lord ( Shani indicates bitter ) and also aspects 3rd lord Shukra and 6th lord Surya. He also likes sour and hot curries including sweets !! But anyhow he likes more tea in a day.But in a Bhojana Prashna we can find out some more clues about the different types of food one consumes.

I hope this helps.

Om Gurave Namah

Namaste Utpal ji,

I have Mars (in 6th house) influencing my lagna/

chandra lagna, lagna/chandra lagna lord and 2nd lord

too. Yet, till 10 years back, I never touched either

coffee or tea. Even now i drink only one/two

(occasionally) cups of tea per day and haven't tasted

coffee till now and i am 45!

Howzzat?

Dear Guru Ramdas Rao-ji,

Namaskar. I am a student of SJC tradition

and hence a student of you as well. Kindly call me just by my name

and not with a -ji. Pranam.

Yes you are absolutely right about Sanjay-ji's tastes. I myself have

Su and Ve aspecting the lagna by rasi drishti. My lagna has Ju in

it. I myself life spicy food and sweets as well. But only

occassionally. I prefer simple satvik food cooked with little spices

and relish that kind of food most. I have Mars (V) and debilitated

in 2H giving indications that food will can be non-vegetarian

although gradually I feel I no longer like non-vegetarian food.

My lagna-lord and AK is not aspected by any planet by graha dristi

but only Ma aspects it by rasi-drishti.

Utpal-bhai has an argument about native, with *both* lagna and

lagnesha having strong association with Mars, liking hot tea. Mars

symbolizes hot substances (in terms of temperature and not

necessarily in terms of spices) but either/both Mars and Saturn

truely bring in the 'tea' connections and tea is tikta or bitter. In

Prashna Marga, Chapter XXVII Stanza 18 & 19 we find these indicators.

Of course as you said, there is possibility of much more information

from prashna chart.

I am not refuting Utpal-bhai's idea but I want to see more of his

research and theoretical interpretations.

Can you kindly let us know more about food and 2H ? In your e-mail

you talked about Shani as indicator of bitter substances and hence

tea (could be coffee as well unless Ju makes the choice as tea).

Pranam and regards,

Sourav

Dear Sourav,

Tea is more bitter than Coffee. That is why I wrote tea.2nd to 2nd house is 3rd house and this gives the taste of one eats or drinks.2nd house gives an indication what is one's favourite but 3rd house gives which food one takes considering the planets therein and aspects to that house. You can refer to Bhavartha Ratnakara.

I hope this helps.

Dear Visti,

Thanks for your mail.So Sanjay Ji was drinking more tea till Shani- Shukra period which ended on 31/3/1989 ( using 360 Savana days per year ).You wrote you saw Sanjay Ji drinking 3 times tea in a day, then how many times coffee he was drinking those times ? Now if we see the Navamsha chart,Chandra has moved to Common sign of Meena Rashi which is a watery sign.So slowly he has stopped drinking beverages and started drinking water more.but as I see his chart,he may consume Aurvedic Kashaaya ( a kind of liquid Ayurvedic Medicine ).

I hope this helps.

Dear Sri Ramadas, namaste

Further inputs to what Visti gave: Nowadays Sanjay almost never takes tea. He takes tea only when the coffee is so bad or not available.

He likes fairly strong & hot coffee (always cafe au lait; thats coffee with milk; very rarely black coffee) and occasionally with a little vanilla or caramel thrown in. He has very good memories of how I prepared coffee for him, LOL. Ugh! is the word that would come to his tongue.

Of course, coffee contains more caffeine than tea and there is always the nicotine to keep his mind on the intellectual planes....Jagannath not withstanding. The addiction to coffee is described by the aspect of Saturn on lagna in Sanjays chart....my chart is a counterexample in this regard.

regards

Hari

Dear Visti,

Thanks for your mail.So as per your informations it is very clear, that Sanjay Ji is not addicted either to Tea or Coffee.Because 3 times drinking tea in a day is not called as addiction. Now if you see me, as I am working in shifts here,i take 1 cup of coffee in the morning before going to duty and 2 times tea,1 around 9 AM and another cup at around 4-30 PM.In night shifts, I take 2 cups of tea to control sleep only.Addiction means one taking tea or coffee continuously ,say 4-5 times a day. Here most of the Kuwaitis drink tea about 5-6 times in a 8 Hr.shift duty. That also black tea.Is this not addiction ?

As per my knowledge addiction is caused by Rahu and his association with other planets in Jala tattwa or Vaayu tattwa.

So this confirms that Sanjay Ji is not addicted to tea or coffee.

At the moment I am writing some important notes about Vivaha Prashna and as soon as it completes, then I will be taking up Bhojana Prashna.

|| Hare Rama Krishna ||Dear Guru Ramdas Rao-ji, Namaskar. I am a student of SJC tradition and hence a student of you as well. Kindly call me just by my name and not with a -ji. Pranam.Yes you are absolutely right about Sanjay-ji's

tastes. I myself have Su and Ve aspecting the lagna by rasi drishti. My lagna has Ju in it. I myself life spicy food and sweets as well. But only occassionally. I prefer simple satvik food cooked with little spices and relish that kind of food most. I have Mars (V) and debilitated in 2H giving indications that food will can be non-vegetarian although gradually I feel I no longer like non-vegetarian food.My lagna-lord and AK is not aspected by any planet by graha dristi but only Ma aspects it by rasi-drishti.Utpal-bhai has an argument about

native, with *both* lagna and lagnesha having strong association with Mars, liking hot tea. Mars symbolizes hot substances (in terms of temperature and not necessarily in terms of spices) but either/both Mars and Saturn truely bring in the 'tea' connections and tea is tikta or bitter. In Prashna Marga, Chapter XXVII Stanza 18 & 19 we find these indicators.Of course as you said, there is possibility of much more information from prashna chart. I am not refuting Utpal-bhai's idea but I want to see more of his research and theoretical

interpretations. Can you kindly let us know more about food and 2H ? Dear

Ramadas Rao, Namaskar

Please

read carefully. In the three years that i have known Sanjay, i have only seen

him drink Tea three times... not in a day but in three years. In other words ‘one

cup per year’, at most. As for Coffee, he drinks always one in the

morning, two in the afternoon, and maybe also two at night on a hectic day,

otherwise its three times a day. I can’t say that he is addicted, but he takes

alot of care to ensure that he gets it. His smoking on the other hand is a

different matter.

Please

with your notes present chart examples, otherwise the notes are of no use, as

you know.

I see his chart,he may consume Aurvedic Kashaaya ( a kind of liquid Ayurvedic

Medicine ).

I hope this helps.

[vedic astrology] Re: Food+Drinking Habits PART-1 (Hot Tea & Mars)

|| Hare Rama Krishna ||

Dear Guru Ramdas Rao-ji,

Namaskar. I am a student of SJC tradition

and hence a student of you as well. Kindly call me

just by my name

and not with a -ji. Pranam.

Yes you are absolutely right about Sanjay-ji's

tastes. I myself have

Su and Ve aspecting the lagna by rasi drishti. My

lagna has Ju in

it. I myself life spicy food and sweets as well.

But only

occassionally. I prefer simple satvik food cooked

with little spices

and relish that kind of food most. I have Mars (V)

and debilitated

in 2H giving indications that food will can be

non-vegetarian

although gradually I feel I no longer like

non-vegetarian food.

My lagna-lord and AK is not aspected by any planet

by graha dristi

but only Ma aspects it by rasi-drishti.

Utpal-bhai has an argument about native, with

*both* lagna and

lagnesha having strong association with Mars,

liking hot tea. Mars

symbolizes hot substances (in terms of temperature

and not

necessarily in terms of spices) but either/both

Mars and Saturn

truely bring in the 'tea' connections and tea is

tikta or bitter. In

Prashna Marga, Chapter XXVII Stanza 18 & 19 we

find these indicators.

Of course as you said, there is possibility of

much more information

from prashna chart.

I am not refuting Utpal-bhai's idea but I want to

see more of his

research and theoretical interpretations.

Can you kindly let us know more about food and 2H

? In your e-mail

you talked about Shani as indicator of bitter

substances and hence

tea (could be coffee as well unless Ju makes the

choice as tea).

Pranam and regards,

Sourav

Dear Chi.Visti,

Thanks for your mail. Now regarding my notes, most of the people come with charts asking for marriage. If anybody asks Prashna related to marriage, then I can add such Prashna charts.

Dear Ramadas Rao, Namaskar

Please read carefully. In the three years that i have known Sanjay, i have only seen him drink Tea three times... not in a day but in three years. In other words ‘one cup per year’, at most. As for Coffee, he drinks always one in the morning, two in the afternoon, and maybe also two at night on a hectic day, otherwise its three times a day. I can’t say that he is addicted, but he takes alot of care to ensure that he gets it. His smoking on the other hand is a different matter.

Please with your notes present chart examples, otherwise the notes are of no use, as you know.

Best wishes,
