Guest guest
Hello everyone, As I am beginning my correspondance course, I read that planetary and stars positions might have been described by " polar position " , not " zodiacal position " , in Sage Parashara's book, BPHS... Actually, I don't know if I understand polar position correctly. I would like to know if we are talking of " modern " right ascension and declination (or equatorial positions), or the " parans " : rising, culimnation, setting or anti-culmination of a celestial point (which has rather to do with the angles, or cardinal house of modern house systems, such as shripati)? Many thanks to answer my question! ;-) -- With my best regards, François
Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah || Namaste Francois, I do not how accurately I would be able answer your question, Due to so many modern terminologies of astronomy is involved. But Still I will try, > As I am beginning my correspondance course, I read that planetary and stars > positions might have been described by " polar position " , not " zodiacal > position " , in Sage Parashara's book, BPHS... SanjayP: Maharishi Pararshara, Used both positions. Polar Position I suppose means northern and souther movement of the Grahas, This was called Uttarayana and Dakshinaayana. The Degress (In Ghati/Vighatika) was noted as " Kranti " of the grahas. The Northern and southern movements are with respect to Dhruva and Sapta Rishi. The usage of these numbers are largely for Mundane astrology is my current understanding. By " Zodiacal position " I understand you mean the East/West movement of of the Grahas in Zodiac. Here Ayanamsha is of important term, Because A circle(Zodiac) or anything involved in going is cycles, There is no Start Point. The Ayanamsha tries to get his resolved to Fix the Aries, Where Soul (Sun) 'sees' the Start(Head) and gets exalted. > Actually, I don't know if I understand polar position correctly. > > I would like to know if we are talking of " modern " right ascension and > declination (or equatorial positions), SanjayP: Yes, To make myself clear. RA or Right Ascension is same count counting the Rising time in a 24 Hour Period, From Spring Equinox, Which is Zero Degrees Aries in Sayana Zodiac (Zodiac without Ayanamsa correction/Sa+ayana with the movement). If you note here the degrees are reprented in Time Factor. Declination is Kranti. The rest of the terms I am not sure to comment now. Warm Regards Sanjay P Hare Rama Krishna. or the " parans " : rising, culimnation, > setting or anti-culmination of a celestial point (which has rather to do > with the angles, or cardinal house of modern house systems, such as > shripati)? > > Many thanks to answer my question! ;-) > > -- > With my best regards, > François

This confirms that I have to be cautious with what is written: it is not because one says that the Sage Parashara wrote " this " that the interpretation and understanding is correct. Many thanks again! ;-) -- Warm regards, François
