Guest guest
Namaste Ragunatha Dasa, The answers are below. Thanks Solai Kannan nava [nava]Tuesday, August 01, 2000 9:54 PMvarahamihira Subject: [sri Guru] lesson 8 Dear Jyotish gurus, Hare Krishna, I have a few questions. Kindly help me? Questions: 1) how do I calculate Kshema star Kshema is the fourth star from the Moon star. For example if the Moon star is Kritika, then the Kshema star is Ardra. 2) How do I calculate adhana star Adhana star is eighth star from Moon star. 3) how do I calculate the longitude Longitude: It has to be seen from the Panjankam or Euphemeris. Now - a- days any Astrological software will give the exact longitude. Our own Guru Mr.Narasimha Rao has made a wonderful software and it is free. You can download it from the SJVC site. In the example is given: 10s 5"51"13 4) What is this 10s? Logitude of uttar sadha = 9s 26"40 5) what is this 9s? Longitude is expressed in many ways. Longitude is the position in the Zodiac. Zodiac is divided into 12 signs and each sign is divided into 30 degrees. So, totally there are 360 degrees. This Degree is further divided by 60 and each 1/60 will be a minute. Again this minute is divided by 60 to get the second.Suppose, Sun is in Cancer. Then it has traversed 3 signs - Ar. Ta. & Ge. (90 degrees) and its exact longitude will be between 91 and 120. The Panjankam or Ephemeris or software will give the exact longitude. Say it is at 110'30". That means 110 degrees and 30 minutes. The same may be expressed as 20 Cn 30. That means in Cancer sign its position is 20 degree 30 minutes. Similarly it is expressed as 3s 20' 30". That means 3 signs are passed and in the fourth sign it is 20 degree and 30 minutes. Here is a (part of) lesson 8. My details are: 23 Aug 1961 Time: 9:00 am timezone: 3:41 West Long: 55:14 w Long: 5:55 E 1a the moon star: Uttara ashada 1b Lagna star: Chitra 1c Utpanna star: Purna Bhadra There is something wrong in your data. 1. Time Zone cannot be in fraction like 3.41. Zones are referred in multiples of hour or half an hour. 2. You gave both as longitude. One must be longitude where the degrees are mentioned with reference to East or West. Another must be latitude, where the degrees are mentioned with reference to North or South. But, what you have calculated 5th star from the Moon Naksatra Uttar shada is Purna bhadra is correct. But, I cannot say, whether correct in your case, unless you give the correct data.
