I was aware only of the point that Arudha can't fal into the same house or the7th from it. This is because these houses are called Satya Peetham, so Maya can fall onlyinto the other houses. But is there any other exception? I'm also interested to know it. "

My inquiry was in correctly calculating the Upa-Pada for this vighati ( birth time):17 July 1952; Time 15:22:50 ( no day light savings time applied) for Chicago, Illinois 41N54min 10 sec; 87W40min 25sec

Situation calculating the correct Arudha of the 12 house or Upa-pada.

My Approach

When I calc. this I get Aries by using the following approach: 1. Libra ( Kanya) = 12 house 2. Ruler = Sukra which is positioned in the 9th ( Cancer)in the birth chart 3. Count from Virgo to Cancer = 10 rasi's away. 4. Count 10 rsigns from Cancer and arive at Aries, yet; 5. With Jagannath Hora Lite the Upa-pada ( UL) is shown in the 3rd house, equaling the 4th from the 12th,

Recommendation/Instruction from Brendan Yes, the problem is this. Libra in 12th, Venus is in 10th from 12th. When a planet is in the 10th house, the 4th becomes the Arudha. Capricorn is fourth from Libra. It is one of the exceptions.

My Response then Brendan's

thx for this info... Now I have read the rules oh 10 timesand I didn't see this rule specifically , but when I seen itin the chart I thought " is there a rule I have not read?".SO when I look at Upadesa Sutras pg. 15 stanza 1.1.31 , 1.1.32I do not see the rule... is it some place else e.g. BPHS?can you direct me , so I can mark the page....

( Brendan's)> A good observation and you are right, BHPS or Upadesa Sutras (Rath) do not> seem to mention this exception. I use what I have learned from Gurudev's> writings and maybe he or Narasimha or any other participant can answer this> for us. I have never asked the question myself! Hope this helps...
