OHM SHRI RAGAVENDRAYA NAMAH

JAYA JAGANNATHA

Namaste Anantarupa,

Thanks for your input. I will give my opinion.

1.Guna and Tatwa are different entity. Both has to be looked separately and then collectively. The correlation of colours and tatwa is for the easy understanding. The same can be applied to Guna also as you mentioned. But, if we allocate colours for the tatwa, then we cannot allocate colours for the Guna. We should attach something else to Guna. Say for example, we can attach sound to Guna. (I am not familiar with sound or music, what I am giving is only in layman language). We can say Angry, commands, high pitch music etc., are Rajo Guna, Soft spoken words, pronunciation of Mantra, pooja, yagna, melody music etc., are Satwa Guna, all other ordinary words, conversation and ordinary music which are all not falling into the other two Gunas can be marked in Tamo Guna.

To further explain, if we take a movie, the visual pictures are tatwa and the sound effects are Guna. Both are different and can be separated. But, when we combine them the effects are unique which will not be obtained otherwise. Both are separate in their own nature and are inseparable as a whole.

Note: As I mentioned, the colours and sounds are all examples to explain and understand the tatwa and guna; and they are not representing these tatwa and guna in true sense. We can reverse this also. We can attach colours to Guna and Sounds to tatwa.

2. I don't know in what context, Mr.Brenden mentioned about the Guna and Tatwa. In my opinion, both are separate entity and exists on its own. We can understand from the Tatwa lesson, that each one of the Agni sign has one of these three Guna, similarly, each one of the Guna sign has one of these Tatwa.

Thanks

Solai Kannan

Arno Holzmann [ArnoHolzmann]Tuesday, October 17, 2000 7:10 PMINTERNET:varahamihira [sri Guru] More on Tatwa- Colours and TatwaNamaste Solai, thanks for your interesting text about tattvas.you wrote:> Agni - Red> Bhoo- Yellow> Jala- Blue> Vayu- Black (colourless)> Akash- White (form of all colours and present everywhere and it is thebase<Some time ago Brendan explained in a text that Agni arises from Rajas,Akash from Sattva and Bhoo (Prithvi) from Tamas. He also mentioned that Vayu arises from a mixture of Sattva and Rajas and Jala from a mixtureof Tamas and Rajas.I vaguely remember hearing somewhere that the three basic colours areare assigned to the gunas and, if that is true, I assume that rajas isred, tamas blue and sattva yellow. According to this understandingAgni should be red Bhoo should be blueAkash should be yellowJala should be red and blue mixedVayu should be yellow and red mixedI dont know if this is correct. Any comments? Anyone?RegardsAnantarupaOM TAT SATArchive: varahamihiraInfo: varahamihira/info.html
