Lesson 2 SKS

1. Which Graha shoud overlord 12-fold division and why?

Surya the sun. As the quote from Krishna to Uddava in Lesson 1 put

it: among luminaries I am the sun, the king of all men. However, we

can look into this from other angles: The sun is the center of the

solar system, around which the other grahas revolve (Rahu & Ketu

being the liveliness created by the intersection between the apparent

paths of the Sun and of the Moon). Or as Parashara puts it: The Sun,

Surya, is the soul of all. From a linguistic angle it occurred to me

that Surya can equal Su (good, well) + R (Mother Divine, the

essential dynamism of Paramatma) + Ya (one who). Thus Surya equals:

One who does furnamental dynamism well. In conrast, Angaraka (Mars) =

anga (limb) + ra + ka (doer). So we get Mars as a limb of R.

Different interpretations around R are possible for Shukra, Guru,

Rahu, Chandra, and I think Buddha (Mercury) has a name that relates

to R as I think does Ketu. Saturn, Sani, is Surya Putra, so we see

the subordinate nature.

Sanjay in response to a question I asked about why Surya is lord of 5

and Chandra of 4 in the Bhu-Chakra, said. " Easy! Look at where

the

axis is between Uttarayana and Dakshinayana " So this shows us

another

reason for Surya getting central role: it defines the point at which

the embodied self ceases to move toward farther enmeshment in

materiality but starts to move toward freedom, Atma, Paramatma. Jai

Shri Ram.

2. Show areas of Nara and Narayana on schematic representation of

Earth and 12-spoked Bhu ChakrasHave to master the flip to front and

back command of MS Word's drawing feature. For the moment, please

accept verbal description>

Earth is defined by third orbit around Sun: outer limit of Nara is

defined by 7th orbit (Saturn) around Sun: Area of Narayana is

infinite, including Nara and extending beyond Nara and beyond the eye

that can see or the mind that can imagine. Beyond Nara, also, are the

constellations that define or mark the 12 spokes (cusps of the

Rashis/signs) of Bhu-Chakra.
